Stoner's Arm Pump

I'd actually second the "glove theory" that Stoner posed. I once did an enduro ride in the hills around Mudgee NSW and since it was nearly snowing I decided to wear lambswool lined ski gloves .......... big mistake. About 20km in I could not possibly hang on any more even opening farm gates became a chore ( with the latch chain. ) I ended up taking the gloves off entirely and rode. They kinda came back but they were then pretty numb from the cold ......... Moral of the story, I never wear gloves with anything more than a few layers of leather only on the palm, as it increases the diameter of the grips and really tires the muscles.

It was still a fun day anyway.

Quick jump off topic

Baz, you hear about Ben Grabham at Condo -- hit a roo at 150+, airlifted out.

Crikey no!

Just googled it ......... he's a tough bugger though .........

"Damien Grabham, running sixth at the time of Ben's accident, stayed with his brother and was a subsequent DNF. We've confirmed that Ben broke his wrist, shoulder and three vertebra, but has done no permanent damage." from transmoto web site. Hope the best for him.

Wonder whats left of the bike!!

Continuing off topic for a while longer

From what I have read in forums from people who were at the race ........... the answer is not much is left of the bike or the skippy apparently.

The unfortunate part is that Ben's acco has totally overshadowed the weekend and racing as well as the other riders who were injured (at least one serious head on).

HowTF can that happen!!?? makes you wonder

Hope they are all ok? any reports on the injuries? ( not on Skippy ..... .... Skippy probably didn't even have a real hopping license ( spanish no doubt ))

From what I have heard the first rider went down a wrong track, realised and started coming back to make up time, the second guy (a distance back) followed the first riders tracks - but that is only heresay at this stage

Not sure of injuries as have hjad difficulty finding anything but was mentioned in a forum of which I am part that had riders in the event.

As for Skippy, he had family, how dare you be so harsh

........ - must be the your pansy Aussie hands... Canucks ride around for hours/days on snowmobiles and ice racers, wearing thick gloves and it does not result in arm pump.

Build up of fluid in the forearm. I've had it a couple of times and it is ...., you lose all feeling and can't use your hand properly. It makes it nearly impossible to hang onto the bars. It's very frustrating cause it makes u feel as weak as a baby.

Thank you man, Hope he gets better for the next round, I hate it when Lorenzo wins like this, I'm not questioning anything about Lorenzo's victory or skills. Total respect for the guy and his team, He won the race fair and square but it was not going to get that easy for him if Stoner was not having the arm issue and Dani was not being a complete ...... staying behind them for that long. He started to push very late.

Days on an ice racer ........ now that I have to see.

But seriously, yes well if I rode like a canuthingy, I could last a lot longer too.

( this was a jibe specifically at MickD .... assuming he is a canoethingy ....... and is in no way meant to reflect my feelings on other kayakthingies )

Yeah, but Canucks only ride slow.

You have to ride faster than a moose walk to get arm pump

I have seen the replay of Qatar race, 5 laps before the chequered flag, Stoner rear tire started to show degredation and he was sliding badly and could not take tighter line. It is very obvious he was more on having tire problem than arm pump problem...He is just giving excuses so that people say..ah He just having arm pump, next race he will be on top of podium .....

I'll bet you his tyre had no more degradation than anyone elses tyres. If he had tyre problems he would say so. He has in the past.

You are only setting yourself up to look like a dill later. So if he does win, does that then mean he learned to save his tires? Or has he addressed the arm pump problem?

Should I believe the rider or someone on the internet who hopes he fails? No brainer really.

How was his throttle control too ............ is your name Babel???

I'm not sure why you even bothered replying. Stoner arrive in Parc fermé, parked his bike, and left it there for public scrutiny. Surely if there would have been abnormal tire wear, it would have been photographed and reported, right? Not sure why its even up for discussion.

Exactly Jums.

As we have seen in the past when tyres degrade severely, it is not uncommon for the tyre technicians to ensure that the 'damage' is not seen to easily.

Actually, I wonder if pics of them all do exist somewhere - sure they were taken.

...... weak .......s. I TRY to wear tyres out, nothin looks cooler at a pub break than a back tyre that is torn to shreds from a ...... rear shock setup

No doubt that Stoner is having arm pump problem as he said in the interview so I should believe him..OTH I had seen with my own eyes his rear sliding badly in comparison and at one angle look like a chunk or something flying..and the next lap JLO and Pedrosa which were behind CS could still take tighter line ...
