Why risk injury to pass somebody you have the beating of, week in week out? Nothing to prove really.

Pete

No, I don't believe Stoner was not giving everything because he would have equalled Rossi and Doohans 11 wins in a season.

Not to mention the fact he was Pedrosa's bridesmaid all the time in 250. They have a close rivalary.

my opinion of stoner is, he is a real racer and winning races is what its all about, he aint one to sit back for easy points. he was trying alright, the way the bike way bucking about out of some corners showed he was on it. just didn't have the best set up ,thats all.

Totally and utterly agree.

Stoner is a racer first and foremost and with the championship over there is no way he would have wanted to have been beaten by anybody.

No question. Dani and the honda were faster on the day. I didn't think stoner showed his usual consistency after first qualifying, and ducati obviously thought they needed soft race fronts and rears to match dani's pace.

I have always said there is a big chance of the empire striking back next year. Honda were never going to take the ducati having more power lying down, and dani has always been a talented rider.

I hope the ducati has some development left in it.

1 STONER Casey AUS 367
2 PEDROSA Dani SPA 242

but nonetheless I won't be pedantic .... I expect Dani to have an even better year next year. He's on the up thats for sure.

Stoner may win ... but I would be amazed if he wins by more than this year.

Gunna be a great year in 2008.

Tonight's race has confirmed to me where the premier class is headed. Stoner and Pedrosa are the future of top flight motorcycle racing without a doubt. Just depends which way it goes. I hope they're at, or near the top for the next decade. Then I'll know the future of motorcycle racing has a great future for years to come.

I keep Stoner and Pedrosa in high esteem, but don't think the future (if by future we mean the next 3-4 years) will be in their name only. They will be main actors, but there will be others.

Rossi will at least race for another 3 years - 2008 with Yamaha and then at least another 2 years with who knows what. He has demonstrated he still has the potential to beat Pedrosa and Stoner this year, so he will be there.

Then there is Melandri, do not underestimate him or rule him out, especially since he will be on a factory bike for the first time since he is in the premier class.

And of course the new entries like Lorenzo and Dovizioso, they will perhaps not be really at the top in their first year, but surely starting 2009 they could be additional forces at the top.

I'll go with Pedrosa for next year.

I'd actually prefer it if Stoner won but I think the Honda is just about the bike that we all thought it would be at the begining of the season.

I look forward to this post haunting me in a years time
