Come to think of it, no rider or driver in the history of motor sport has ever won, on or in, something that cant win.

Very true on the face of it but pedantic. I'm sure you know the poster probably meant something that was preserved not to be a winning machine rather than something that can't win.

I'm pretty damned sure if Stoner doesn't change his mind by the end of this year which I'm pretty sure he will then he will definitely be back one year after he retires.

I don't think he would return to motogp.. Maybe try his hand at WSB but i get the feeling he will hang up his leathers for good. I think he loves riding but doesn't enjoy the life of a racer. Flying around the world all the time must get to you after a while especially if your a family man type of person. I use to drive trucks and would be away all week, sometimes longer. It's a ...... thing for a father missing his kids grow up.

While i understand it's his choice what he does with his own life. Jacking because of CRT's is a slap in the face for all working men who would love to be a motogp racer. Jacking because he wants to be a full time family man propels him to the very top of my respect ladder. just mho.

Well said Chops. Though not to the extreme of Casey, having travelled a lot around Europe racing since I was 13 even i too am beginning to tire of the travelling aspect of racing. That, and the increasing costs, are the two things that are making me consider doing less events or leave altogether. He's been away from his homeland since he was 14, I couldnt blame him for wanting to move back home and enjoy the family life, especially as he will probably never need to work again financially.

I don't know but i would think its even harder for riders who reside in Australia and Japan because of the distance from most events from their home. Airport lounges and jet lag is a mother ...... once a year let alone all year every year.

Stop encouraging me pete, i'm already on some neo boppers ignore list. I'm trying to be nice

Stoner is not just anyone; he’s the most talented rider in the world, stop comparing him to us mere mortals. We are allowed to retire; he’s not, period. Why?

Spiderman lives by the motto “With great power comes great responsibility”. Millions of kids and grownup admire this kid’s talent and he treats it with great contempt.

The boy is a spoilt, rude, weak, unbalanced, immature anarchist, yes, its is prerogative, his decision, but I don’t respect it, it’s a waste of great talent, he’s not the first to have a child, Dovi has one, but isn’t has talented.

You are paid handsomely to do a job, if you want enjoyment, go to Disney or parties.

You are given the best factory bike without limitation what’s your concern with Donna or CRT.

Great athlete like Roger Federa, Michael Schumacher or Mohamed Ali who got stripped of his belt for 4 year and nearly went to jail because he stood against the Vietnam War never walked away cause they got bored. These guys actually stood for something.

The only thing worth watching now is moto2 and moto3.

If there were a prize for the most narcissistic whine of the year - this statement would win it hands down.

Next you'll be saying Stoner living in a nice house in the country is a slap in the face to all the people

who live in council estates.

I see the point your trying to make and have come to a conclusion. The exhaust fumes around New York are at a level where the residents really need to wear a filter mask. Save your brain buddy and move to the country.

Chopperman......why all the respect to Stoner? Not trying to start just questioning your motives, you cant stomach the guy now respecting him cos of his dicision.. It wouldnt be cos Rossi might get om his bike and with Casey gone Vale can start winning again and all will be right in the world..

You seem to be hung up on me being a Rossi fan mate. whether or not i am should have no bearing what so ever. Yes watching Rossi in his day ride beyond the limits was a joy to watch just like Stoner, Schwantz, Rainey, McCoy ect ect.

Off track i have had issue with stoner and his childishness like a lot have had issue with Rossi. On track and off track are two separate things imo.

I love the sport more than any individual rider yet find watching sometimes more entertaining or infuriating because of things done or said after the chequered flag.

The respect i posted if his reasons were family man related are because i can very much relate to that. I am a farther of 3 and believe family comes first no matter what. If he is willing to sacrifice a dream job for his family or want to give it in because he wants to be with his family more, i respect him for that as a man.

Jacking because CRT's are now in the rules even though he isn't riding one seems more like a childish sulk. If all the bikes were CRT and he did not want to be a part of it i could understand. Moaning at fans who don't like him while ignoring the ones who love him shows a personality flaw imho.

how will i ever sleep tonight?

This forum has been one sided too long with you neo boppers flaming members who dare criticize stoner or not conform to your Rossi hatred.

Pushing your buttons is just way too easy

Sorry Rog but I will call BS.

Yes there are some members who will flame antone with an anti STone feeling, and yes there are members who will flame anyone with a pro-SToner comment just as yes there are member for whom mention of the word 'Rossi' in a post evokes feverish assumption that it must be negative and the wrath of the Rossi-Neo comes to the fore.

Once Stoner's time is past there will be some who will leave the forum, but as this very thread has shown, there are Neos of another kind ready to return.

Two wrongs does not make a right

Completely agree here Rog.......and this is all Casey needed to say really.

The thread is 20 odd pages long because Casey not just included, but started with a barrage of negative points about the sport, the media, the fans and boredom......In typical Casey fashion he is getting all the wrong attention for the wrong reasons. For a man who doesn't like the pain of the spotlight, he certainly knows how to attract it.

The thing I mostly disagree with is the 'Boredom' comments, Casey shouldn't really be suggesting that people should except this type of tech driven processional racing because he says its ok, especially seeing as his time in the premier class has been the most regulated and over-tech ever.........and really 'comments' like this shouldn't bother him at all, let alone allow them to influence his retirement, hes is paid to race and win. I completely respect his right and decision to go home to oz and raise his family, move onto the different things, I don't believe he should have crapped on like he did. For ultimately I would like to believe that his family was his primary motivation for retiring, however after reading all the transcripts and watching the press conference, I can't......

Bottom line of why this side is pissed isn't because he is retiring. Its because of the reason he stated in the press con. If he had just said he wants to go home and be with his family, and just chill, fish, and surf with barry. I can respect that... A lot! He has done it all, he has no reason to stay. Thats cool. I just dont respect him blaming crt, and no respect for the guys behind the seen, the media and fans being dicks, ect ect.

But here is the deal with the last bit of that statement. if he can use the rest of this season to make positive changes to motogp for us the fans and the riders to make motogp better racing. To at least try to make these changes that we all admit are good for gp. Than I say thank you Casey Stoner. So I am going to hold of my opinion on his retirement until later. And just enjoy that I have him around to........spice things up a bit.

They don't get it b/c Stoner didn't say he is retiring due to the CRTs, and he didn't imply it. He said it was bs that Colin and Randy (emphasis on the riders, not the machines) should have to ride CRTs b/c Dorna, IRTA, MSMA, and the sponsors (more people) are too lazy to put bikes together for them. Stoner doesn't like the exploitation of their talent to push a Dorna agenda. The technology is circumstantial, as is the material used to create the CRTs and the nature of their construction (full prototype vs. production engine prototype). The rant is against the GPC institution, who are not respectful of the workers, according to Stoner. He doesn't want these autocrats telling him what to ride or telling his crew what to build. Stoner would never have to ride a CRT. Clearly he is concerned with the forces that spawned CRT bikes, not the bikes themselves.

Are you freakin' serious? You really think Stoner's main reason to retire his livelihood, paycheck.....is because little Randy and Colin Edwards didn't get a ride they deserve? WTF.

You really are blinded. He's just using CRT and Dorna as a scapegoat cuz the guy is mentally weak and can't handle the pressure anymore, whether it be from the media or the competition or both...... so the best way for him to leave with his pride intact is to quit while on top.

Valentino knew he should of quit, but now he's dragging himself along for 1 more good year so he can retire. NO ONE wants to retire when they are at the bottom........ it will always leave a bad taste in your mouth. You know how racing goes, you're only as good as your last race.

Stoner's a weakling and using excuses pointing fingers at other's for his retirement, that's how I see it anyways.

But Dub, Stoner has tried and tried, he has mentioned different aspects for years and yet he has been called a winging whinging little prat for it.

He has pushed the 'limit electronics' barrow, never wanted control tyres and has said he wants multiple, asked for an increase in fuel capacity, complained about astroturf on the outside of corners that he had felt was dangerous, stopped atteding some safety meetings because they were not listening etc. In short, he has mentioned many many things that he would olike to see changed but whenever he menions anything he is deemed in the pressand forums as whinging and for an example look no further than his retirment announcement ........................... he states he wants more competitve bikes for the likes of RdP but is whinging.

The obly rider in the paddock who DORNA will listen to is unfortunately at this point of the season involved in his own battle to get competitive again and while some will see that as an attack on Rossi, the simple truth is that if Rossi farts, DORNA listen as he is their current meal ticket. No, that does not say or insinusate that Rossi gets favoured but he is extremely powerful within the sport and if he speaks, they do listen.

Funny though, Rossi tweets about how boring racing has become and gets no criticism at all, yet another rider states that racing has changed and he has lost the enjoyment .............. and some react like he just ran over a puppy with a land rover.
