Dubs, the GP15 would have won at least three races with Stoner on the bike. In fact he would have been a bona-fide title challenger with that bike.

I won't argue that. I know he would be a title contender. I wasn't happy he retired. I wish he had the sack to stay in the game and I know he wishes he did too. I would loved to have seen his face and heard his comments when all the late season shenanigans were going down.

JP, I'm also worried this may be CS last real opportunity. He may not be long in the tooth in dog years (no pun), but in GP years, staying out of competition for as little as 2 years is a lifetime. Also, bro, Casey responds to money like Uccio at a whorehouse, it's just doesn't get him excited.

Mdub, the GP16 on Mishitlins and electronics from the last ice age (according to Rossi) is still a big unknown. Despite Scott Reddings impressive last day test anomaly, I'm not ready to start suckling eachother's dicks just yet.

I think it is his last opportunity as well, if he doesn't get back on a bike in a grand prix in 2016, he is done IMO. Only thing though that could prove the staying out of competition wrong is no one has ever stopped at the age he did and then came back...and what seems to be the thing that really can take its toll on guys is the mental fatigue first, and then the accumulation of injuries second. Mental fatigue seems to burn most guys out by their early 30s. Having taken a break could actually have been a very smart move...this of course assumes he comes back. He's also a once in a lifetime freak talent that I believe could get ready for Losail and be on pole position in spite of the break.

The money wouldn't so much be for him as it would be for his family. He's still the provider, and who knows if he has plans to expand the family at all.

As the Million Dollar Man once said, "Everyone's got a price."

Your stoner boner is so strong I can hear it throbbing every night when I try to sleep.

I'm going to start sleeping with one of those breathe right strips so I can keep my mouth shut while I sleep.

That's why these were invented.

Open wide!

On the surface, that seems like a bold statement, but considering the talent difference between Dovi/Ianoone and Stoner, i could seriously see him winning 2015 Qatar and PI considering his dominance at those tracks. Not sure he would have been a title contender as the Ducati still has bugs that just will not allow it to compete on certain tracks

At least they won't get caught between his teeth.

There is an interview with Stoner in this week's MCN.

Some people expect you to return to
MotoGP with Ducati full-time in 2017.
“Definitely not. When you are racing
you have to push to the limit and take
risks all the time. Once you are outside
the bubble of MotoGP you realise just
how much importance people put on
that small world of racing. There is
more to life with my family.”
Any regrets about quitting in your
prime, aged just 27, or are you still in
your prime?
“I have zero regrets about stopping
when I did and I also believe that I could
still be in my prime if I was racing. I am
still very happy with my decision.”

Well there it is. Dream over. End of.

Not sold personally.

Since Ducati (and Stoner) finds themselves on the wrong end of every rules change, would you really announce anything now about 2017? I admit it is unlikely, but I don't buy the safety crap. If that was 100% accurate, he never would have been at Suzuka this year for a motorcycle endurance race of all things.

Plus Didn't Stoner deny he was retiring just 2 days before he actually announced his retirement?!

Anything can happen.

Another thing as well 22, if you announce he is coming back in 2017 before we've even run the 16 season, imagine the .... show that creates for Iannone and Dovizioso for the entire season! It means one of them is not coming back, so every press conference would be asking them about it. It would be counterproductive for Ducati or Casey to announce anything now. Mind you he may not be coming back, but there is literally no upside to announcing such a thing now.

I wouldn't use jumkies favorite phrase "don't go sucking each others dicks just yet," we are already way past that.

Seems like a lot of fuss if he is merely going to test.

Perhaps there is some faint chance of a real return. Here's hoping his test times are blitzing.

Even if they had already decided, all parties involved would firmly deny any chance of return in 2017 until after Valencia 2016.
So I guess we've just to wait and see.

Exactly.

There's zero benefit of announcing anything like that during the 2016 season.

Also denying has the added benefit of keeping him under the radar if he is getting into shape. It's doubtful anyone would even know about it.
