I just talked to a source in the GP paddock and the big rumor is that Stoner is capable of turning 19's. And also Kawasaki is in talks to get RL Hayden on the GP team for next year. I dont know if this is news to you guys or not.

Why would Kawasaki waste the money on a guy that can't run with the beat the regulars at his home track?

I say give RLH a ride at Phillip Island and another track, and if he can beat Westy at home, and the other neutral track then consider RLH for a job...otherwise, team green should save their money.

Apparently Stoner was around 45 seconds quicker than Hayden was last year at Laguna! Also 29 of the 32 laps were inside Dani Pedrosa's lap record of last year. Now that is what I call an absolute demolition of the opposition. In all honesty if Stoner can keep the bike upright I can't see anyone beating him for the title this year. His demolition of the opposition was so total!

Agreed 7 more finishes should equal one MotoGP World Championship ...

Casey turns 22 on the 16 October ... the Philip Island race is 14 October ... could it be a two day early 22nd birthday present to himself at home?!

Ummmm....He finished 10th.....With about 5 hours on the bike....3 of which came this weekend. Team Green SHOULD put RLH on a GP ride and I would bet even money that he does as well as West has this year. Not only that, but RLH was also riding Supersport at Laguna. Talk about 2 completely different bikes. I think it is humerous that you guys think he shouldn't get a ride....For what reasons???? Is it because he is NH's brother? Or the fact that he rides in the AMA? I mean, lets face it....The AMA is nowhere near the organization that GP or WSBK are, but at the very least, the Supersport class is one of the most competitive classes anywhere.

Give the kid a try. He can't do any worse than RDP has this year.....

I think that if they are going to take a chance on RLH they would be better off giving a 250 rider a chance to move up. There is some awesome talent just waiting to be tapped into.
I also think that the USA, Australia, Italy and Spain are more than represented in Motogp At this stage.

I think they should find a Mongolian camel jockey to give the ride to ...apparently if you can ride a mongolian camel flat out then a MotoGP bike is a piece of cake!

Comparing lap times from last year's are like comparing apples and oranges.. 990cc v 800cc. the small bikes will do better iona tight track like Laguna.

or example 13 of the 21 (and if it weren't for the wild card/replacement riders, 13/17) riders riders qualified quicker than chris vermulean's pole position lap from last year.

So the teams should base their decision, on who rides for them, on what country they come from? Well then, maybe they should find some Jamacan, South African or someone from the Middle East to ride....I don't understand how the country someone is from should have any bearing on wether or not that person gets a ride. If they are good enough, they should get a shot. If not, get someone who is....irreguardless of country of origin.

Unfortunately country of origin has had far too much to do with getting a ride in MotoGP. If this is not apparant by now it never will. Manufacturers want to get into the big USA market so they started bringing in US riders. Now you are getting 2 races per year. Spainish and Italian riders have always been over represented because they bring lots of sponsorship. Dorna is trying to get more support in the UK so they are desperately trying to find a British rider to bring in. Unfortunately there are many many quality riders that none of us know about because they can't get a break whilst the grid is full of has beens and never made its.
Get rid of:
Checa
Barros
Edwards
Nakano
Tamada
Then start bringing in riders from other countries and championships and if they don't make it piss them off and try some more. For example how much longer should Edwards be given to prove something. He should have been pissed off back to Superbikes after 1 or 2 years max.

I would much prefer to watch riders who might have the fight and the balls to make it like Ant West then watch some one like Edwards who we know will never make it. If Roger Hayden is one of those top 5 riders who is likely to make it then give him a shot but don't give him a shot just because he is American and may help to capture the market.

I agree that there needs to be a reshuffling of the deck, if you will. I just don't think that ones country of origin should really have anything to do with weather or not they get a GP ride. I am sure there is plenty of talented riders out there that would go balls to the wall if given the chance. I wish Honda would have given the Duhamel ride to some one else....But it is what it is....

I vote for the South African option. HOT accent!

No huh???

Personally I think that De Angelis, Dovi and above all my very own little Psycho Lorenzo should be moving up for the coming season so that's three seats already gone. Plus JT likely to be in there too.

Not to say anything ugly about Stoner, he had a fantastic race but:
- Comparing last year is totally useless, not mainly because of the different bikes, but because of the different surface, with no bumbs.
- He got in 10 sec ahead of a midpack rider, with a midpack bike, Vermulen.
- He got in 25 sec ahead of a rider that would have his lisence withdrawn for driving with heavy drugs inside if he was on a public road.

Who else should challenge him? Hopper out, Haden out, Capirossi out.
and the rest of the real rider competition on michelins that weren't working.
(I'll have RJ all over me for that)

Oh, yes i did, but of course I could use a variant of your version of the race and the season:

By changing team and bike Stoner suddenly decide to go from mid-pack to divine. Way beyond anything we've ever seen before. He totally demolish the 5-7 time champion and everybody else only through his own abilities as a racer and nothing else.
You may belive it, but I don't.
I still think he is real ting, a real championship challenger, and maybe the winner this year, but unless you believe in miracles on the race track, no racer turns that good over the winter.

Babelfish,...friend....take a look at last year again. Casey was in amongst them on many, many occassions, and then threw it down the tarmac.

I have to say your Rossi tinted spectacles are too funny for words, but so long as you're happy that's all that counts eh!

It's not my Rossi glases, it's my Pedrobot glases that are the problem, or was it the Vermulen glases, or what ever. But my point was that when someone compare last years results to this year and based on that say it's a total demolition it's hilarious. It's a total Orange and Apples comparison but I guess you missed that? Need som glases?

I watched Stoner closly last year and I liked what I saw, and I applauded Ducati for their choise and wished him well. It still doesn't explain the surge this year, and add into that mix how he did in Germany or Jerez. A world class rider doesn't change that much as a rider in his performance from year to year and certainly not from race to race. And guess what, the same goes for the others as well.

I will continue to analyze races not only based on the result list but also on all the factors behind that contribute to the result, not only the rider.

You choose to disregard other factors and hail your new good, fine by me.
