Eh, first of all I said highly profiled, secondly they made their own bike and therby both increased cost and strugeled to be competetive, third he couldn't afford fast, motivated riders, finally would it be easier to get american sponsors if he wasn't american?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Sep 18 2008, 11:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Teo, must he force the ride on a Spaniard only? Or is he looking for the best possible talent to fill the shoes of a rare and scarce MotoGP seat?

It sounds to me the guy is hell bent on a Spanish guy regardless. Makes me wish we had some American owners out there. Come on Jordan.

Well, it's very likely it'll be a Spanish rider because AFAIK the Sponsor's market is in Spain and they want to put someone in the picture that people here recognise, and Aspar is not a manufacturer, he's depending 100% on the sponsor to pay the bills.

I don't think he's biased that much, his n1 rider in the 125cc team (where HIS money lays) is a Hungarian. And anyway his proteges (Faubel, Gadea) are Valencian, he's got no personal likening to Checa or Gibs (who are Catalan), if he picks any of those it's because he thinks they are good (or the sponsor wants them) not because where they are from.

IMO he'll chose the best he can between those that fit the sponsor profile.

Kenny is about as big as an american profile gets in bike racing, so i'm starting to think you meant a hiprofiled person in the world outside of motorsports

Smart kid, of course I did. Motorbike racing are not exactly hot stuff in US. Of course the Jordan name would open a lot more doors to executives in companies that wouldn't know much about motorbike racing. It's a well proven formula sucesfull in any sector of business.

Yea but as you say, motorbike racing isnt hot stuff in the US, so these hi-profile people are hard to come by. Similar to here i guess, somebody with a big status needs to attatch themself to motor racing and drag fans and money with them. For the UK at least the terrestrial TV deal should go some way to helping exposure.

When/Where were Kallio and Canepa confirmed for Alice Ducati? I have yet to see an official announcement or even a fairly solid word on these guys.

I haven't seen anything either
<

But the fact is that there are two rides available as Elias said he was going to Gresini and Guintoli has been testing the R1 for Yamaha Motor Italia

Haha, you say this as if they are from different countries. (But yeah, I get it).

No you don't.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Helix @ Sep 26 2008, 09:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Now that Dovi has been confirmed at Honda, what is there left to sort out, just the Alice & JIR/Scot teams?

According to Mamola (translated by norwegian commentators that might have gotten it wrong) the big talk in the padock is that Spies are linked to Tech3 and Ewards will go to US.

Will Suzuki be so stupid to not arrange something for him if not a third bike at least as many widlcards as possible, by the way is there a maximum of races you can do as a wildcard?
<

For Alice the deal with Kallio seems almost done as KTM is talking to riders to replace him

I was having a beer earlier with a mate of mine who said (apropos of nothing in particular) that Westy has signed with Kawasaki to ride WSS, anyone know anymore about this?

That's weird because Kawasaki will be represented by a Spanish team and both riders have already been chosen apparently, Lacorz and Fujiwara

It's just that he's looking so pale. Also note I didn't ask where the test riders were.
