Good one Woody. Speaking of "sniffing", I notice something during the post race conference that I haven't seen anybody talk about. Nicky was asked if there was a reason why he didn't use engine #1 at Qatar. He replied rather interesting, he even said "I could start a good story for you but I don't have anything rehearsed..." Krop, dare I ask, Lex, do you guys have any dirt or insight on this?

The guy asking the question was this guy...look familiar?

I think it was Kropotkin himself who asked the question.( I read it from mtm forum)

Nothing gets past you. Hence my, "look familiar".
<
Just wondering what the deal was. Is Nicky holding something back?

Ha ha. Wasn't sure what you meant

Anyway, here is the answer Kropo gave in motomatters to the same question

That was my question. I saw on the engine lists that he'd only been using one engine since WUP at Qatar. He said there was nothing to say, just that he'd been working on getting one bike right and not touching the other. It's sort of a sign of how far off Ducati is at the moment that they don't really have any ideas to try to fix the bike, just waiting for the new parts at Estoril.

Having said that, the Ducati's not far off in the wet. It's just in the dry that they struggle.

Picture the response had it have been the other way around and Casey had taken out Rossi, then gone into his garage to apologise with his helmet still on.

I can say 100% that it wouldnt have been as big an issue.

This forum is full of self important ..... who actively drive away any rossi support.

Boppers get knocked left and right, but boners are on next levels of blind support.

It goes both ways and refusing to believe so only furthers the point.

I know this is utterly pointless, but simple question rob, who caused the crash? Unless you were in an alternate universe on the week-end, perhaps the same one to which stoner should have instantaneously transferred to avoid the crash, it wasn't stoner, nor was it any of his fans.

Yes but put simply Michael ....... who caused Rossi to look the fool
<

Which, even though the Boppers are trying to hang some ( any !!) sort of blame on him, was not any of his doing either

I have been questioning whether I have been wrong all along and your perspective has been totally correct after the reaction to the incident, which seems frankly delusional on the part of some, but you do realise that you have supported rob's point? What does rossi looking foolish or not have to do with anything?

My interest, odd though it seems to be, is just for casey to have a fair run at this championship. If this is the reaction to him being taken out through no fault of his own, he probably should have stayed on the farm in 2009.

Normally ....... diddly squat ( were it any other rider ) ......... but for the whinging about Stoner and how he has wronged poor ole innocent Lossi

what i find funny austin, is a few years back these same people had their pitch forks and torches out on anything stoner. now that the tables are turned, all i hear is either whining or how "old" it is getting. some still do bash stoner, but can't seem to see the hypocracy of it all. <shrugs>

i'm actually pretty mutual about this whole incident. agree with most of the level headed posters that while a bone headed move by rossi, it is just that. it does make for a good discussion, but there's no sense getting caught up in it

as far as the marshalls. it did look and seem lopsided, but its over and done now, and i'm sure both rossi and stoner have moved on. although i'm sure they won't be sending post cards to each other any time in the near future.

Why are you even asking.......everyone with a nutsack has admitted it was rossi's fault.

And barry too...

Of course i aknowledge this point, however i feel that the boners are just as bad around here.

But then this is a stoner sanctuary.

"Lossi" i am sure couldnt give a rats a-hole bazza......he walked away with 5th place, and points on the board.

I just keep thinking about stoner whinging about the masterclass rossi gave him in 2008 in the US..."i was nearly in the gravel so many times", when he does end up in the gravel because of rossi its three seasons later, and thanks to a mistake in the wet.

Funny that.

I was gobsmacked by this post until you said "here in australia" Then I realised I had wandered into the beginners reading section, and left to go back to the posts with big words.

Pete

How about this one o' boy. It has some big words, and pictures too.

Welcome back buddy.

But then this is a stoner sanctuary.

You acknowledge that it goes both ways, and then proceed to make the point that this place in particular is a Stoner sanctuary. If that's not a contradiction, I don't know what is. Say it with me now... The forum is made up of equal parts Stoner worshipers and Rossi worshipers. And then, of course, there are the intelligent ones.

Best I got is a pic on mobile off tv if anyones got owt better

Lost in all of this has been Nicky's podium. Can we talk about this a bit, or should I just make anew thread like everybody else?

11730:NH Jerez.jpg]

If any of you saw the post race interview, you hear Nicky apologizing over and over again about making the podium. Humility to a fault! But as the cliche says, you gotta finish...etc. They showed the tires at the end, and anybody upright must be commended. JohnnyK said Ducati would not see the podium this year, I'm glad he was wrong and Nicky notched this well deserved moment (though its been like a tree falling in the forest and all). Actually, Rossi is partially to thank for this opportunity, as his crash propelled Nicky up the order--you see guys, its not all negative about Rossi.)

Another thing lost in the shuffle was Hopkins top 10 finish. Again, finishing actually seemed the feat for the day.

On a side note, I thought Hopper's return would surely bring back our good friend BassPete.

Ahh yes Nicky,s podium.

Has anyone seen or heard from JOHNNY KNOCKDOWN since raceday?

I can say 100% that it wouldnt have been as big an issue.

So you can vouch 100% for every Rossi aficionado on this forum. You are prepared to say with all assurance that had this been the other way around and Casey had taken out Rossi on the eight lap of a wet race on a bike notorious for a lack of front end feel, then subsequently unconvincingly visited Rossi's garage post race still wearing his helmet to offer an apology.....it wouldn't have been as big an issue.

Right.

As many have pointed out - you weren't here to witness the reaction to the Elias incident in '06.

I also noticed you called Gaz a 'hater' on another thread!!!???? Why? Gaz along with Mike have long been the voices of equanimity on this forum.

You've even adopted it in your sig. Historically any remote criticism of Valentino on this forum has been tantamount to heresy.

Is your real name Matthew Hopkins?

You seem to be on a perpetual Rossi crusade and utterly committed to widening the divisions. Your posts contain little more than perpetuation of this polarisation when actually you seem an articulate bright guy - it would be interesting to see you regularly post without mentioning Vale or indeed your dislike for Casey.

It would also be intriguing to debate with you at length on here one day.

Of course i aknowledge this point, however i feel that the boners are just as bad around here.

But then this is a stoner sanctuary.

Ironically - it wasn't always so. There was a time not so long ago when the majority here

were fans who had reasonably balanced appreciation for Rossi and ______ (name a rider)

but over time the sound of hysterical little girls crying and tearing their hair out every time

any vaguely critical thought was expressed regarding Rossi - has caused folks who were

on the fence to become much more hard-core and unforgiving. All the time wasted

replying to idiotic posts consisting of nothing more than juvenile pettifogging and childish

insults from the fanatics has galvanized the more rational people here on PS.

Try employing lucid, rational and objective thinking when

replying to posts instead of irrelevant statistics, insults,

sophist obfuscation and pedantry.
