Also regarding the Spanish marshals -- they know very well who is the main rival of Lorenzo and Pedro in the championship this year... it's not Rossi is it. If they all ignored Stoner to help Rossi, it's not so much because they love him...

Yes. Im with a few friends right now who don't even know motorcycle racing exists. I just showed them your pic and explained. We are all rolling and bursting into laughter.

Well the positive for Stoner is that he has more points this season than he did at this stage last season.

Not likely to be a fruitful line of argument imo given that valentino has just graphically demonstrated the reason for stoner's difficulty in accumulating early season points last year, unless you wish to argue that valentino made a deliberately reckless move in which case I may agree with you.

I'm just stating a fact. Stoner is doing better in absolute terms than he was this time last year - don't be so precious.

I'll preface my statement by saying I've never really had any issues with any of the other controversial racing incidents mentioned in this thread... So it's probably not hard to guess that I believe that line was only moderately difficult and totally doable. Vale made an error, period.

My anger was for the reasons pinky gave (for once I am in agreement with him), the implications for stoner winning this championship, in which I obviously rationally or not have a strong emotional investment. Pinky's arithmetic is slightly lacking, but without mishap to jorge, which I don't wish on him, it is in all likelhihood a minimum of 4 races to get back to even with jorge. Ironically I may have to support valentino as he is very likely the only other rider capable of beating jorge in a straight out fight.

the point is not if rossi's speed was excessive, obviously in turn 1 lap 8 it was, the point is that the majority here have been adamantely adopting the opinion that this kind of dominant speed wasn't possible, that this accident could never have been possible because Stoner would always be so far ahead, and that only Stoner could ride the Duck,

VR is the new Melandri and so on. Well much earlier than expected it's all been exposed for the ........ it always was. That's the point....

Thanks for posting this. Despite it being wayne and the obvious caveat that if you are running a bike racing site with even vague commercial intentions, or any desire for success, criticism of valentino rossi by the principal is not a viable strategy I buy most of this. In particular the helmeted apology may well have been due to embarrassment, which puts the apology in a different light.

yeah, the embarrassment excuse I don't buy. If Rossi was genuinely sorry he would've taken off his helmet and had a word in private - and told Stoner that he will take out Lorenzo and Pedro in the next couple of races.
