well to be fair, in that case, in that particular part of the race, rossi seemed a bit too ambitious considering he himself said he came up the inside cuz he braked deeper than he wanted and was trying to avoid a collision. maybe the sensible thing to do would be to run the turn wide instead of trying to hold such a tight line in the conditions they were racing in.

awesome ride from lorenzo..seemed like the m1 was on rails even in the rain.

officially became a fan of pedrosa, dude has more fight in him this year and is showing a lot of heart.

lol @toby and jules with the commentator curse. at the end jules was like "SHUT UP! lets just stay silent for this last lap!"

side note: anyone notice that sign of (thor's?) hammer that can be used as a pit board sign on one of the yamahas. does that mean "put the hammer down" when they put it on the board?

One more important note who was barberas brolly girl?

Crap! Did I miss some puntang? .... I must really be toasted. I may be as blind as those marshals. Quick somebody post a pic of said oversight.

Any press release from Ben/yam?

I read on twitter that ben crashed trying to slow down and bring it home safe, he was disappointed not to get the 1 - 2. The quote was '.... happens'

Thanks a bunch you EGOTISTIC ..... ! It's the most bumpy turn on the circuit, and he takes a big risk,he's an .....!

Well ,it might not change too much in the Honda garage anyway,i hope.Even if Puig looked unusually hysterical over Pedrosa's podium.

Fantastic effort by Crutchlow and Hopkins.Hayden on the podium was good for the championship (I think so anyway).

I'm going to call Valentino the ..... atleast till he makes up for it...in a month

just watched the video again to see barbera's umbrella girl...she lookin' mighty fine!

still no contest with that monster tech 3 girl that jumkie posted

What mistake did stoner actually make?

Rossi will go for it whether it is there or not, as both gibernau and now stoner on 2 occasions can testify, because as has been proven he can get away with it. Stoner rode the bloody thing for 4 years with the same difficulties without taking anyone out. I have always thought it but will now say it, stoner crashed in the 2 races after laguna seca 2008 because he thought he needed to stay clear of rossi, not because he was afraid of him, but because he knew rossi could get away with things not open to him.

Well said!

Stoner slams 'lack of help' after crash

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90428

.

"There was no damage to my bike," said Stoner. "When I got knocked off, I switched the bike off with the kill switch. Unfortunately with our clutch system we have to have two pins to start the bike normally.

"We tried to start it a few times and I tried to move it up the gears, and I think if we'd got over the hill with more people pushing, there's a good chance we could've started the bike.

"When I looked back I had like one guy pushing me, all the rest were walking back to their posts... What am I supposed to do with that? For sure that guy was trying hard, but with one guy it's impossible - he'd be destroyed before we got over the hill.

"I think if we'd have been able to get the bike going we would have had some very good points because the bike was undamaged. We should've been able to be competitive to the end, but things happen like this.

"This is something that riders who are against Valentino have had to learn to deal with. It's completely unfair, but it's something that's happened to me in the past when I've crashed. I've had people pushing my bike off the track - even when it's perfect and I can still race. I've had to fight with marshals to get them to try and get me started again."

Stoner added: "This was a racing incident, just him losing the talent in this corner. It's disappointing for me, but for me the worst was the marshals not helping me and to completely forget me like I'm nothing, and then trying to push me off the bike basically."

Here is what Rossi had to say.

By Toby Moody, Matt Beer, Michele Lostia

Rossi 'wasn't trying to pass Stoner'http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90429

"When I arrived behind Stoner, I didn't want to overtake him in the moment of braking, but I braked a bit too deep compared to him, and I arrived too fast and I didn't have enough room to go on the outside so I tried to go on the inside to make less problems for both of us but unfortunately I lost the front and I also took him out," said Rossi.

"It's completely my mistake and I have to say sorry to Casey. I know that he's very angry because he didn't make any mistakes. I went straight to say sorry."

When Rossi apologised to Stoner in the Honda pit afterwards, television cameras caught the Australian asking Rossi about the health of his injured shoulder and suggesting his 'ambition outweighed his talent'. Rossi laughed off his rival's comments.

"I don't know, maybe he doesn't know exactly who I am!" Rossi said to Italia1 television. "But it's okay, it's fair enough, he's angry and I would be too. I've made a mistake and for me it was important to apologise. I'm not so interested in what he says."

Although Rossi came back to fifth place after the incident, he was confident he could have won the race had he stayed upright.

"When it was wet I did the fastest lap, so I had a clear chance to win the race," Rossi admitted to reporters.

"At the end the fifth place is a positive result if it was in the dry, but in the wet we were more competitive. We were lucky today with the weather, and the weather gave us a great chance to have the first victory or the first podium with the Ducati. Unfortunately I threw away this chance with a mistake."

nice interviews from both of them. I can believe Rossi didnt want to overtake him at that point, or anyway he never wanted to lose it this way.

and about the marshals, i think they could do a better job. after helping Rossi, most of them went away and only one or a few came to help Stoner.

Firstly, this thread what can you do but

Ahh the hypocrisy!! Ahh the Humanity!!!!

RAIN-the great leveler..............

Secondly congratulations to Jorge, great race, very 'brave'. Also Pedders and Nicky, all a little Bradbury like but hey that's racing.

Those wets looked to be down to canvas in parc ferme! Jorge's clown-like slip into the lake was hilarious! He did really surprise me, I thought he had no chance in the wet yesterday.

Now to the elephant in the room......Funny how TRUE COLOURS shine through in occasions like this
<
Mickm - I take back my comment...... absolutely disgusting.

I'm not too sure what boners and haters are upset about more, the rather obvious point, the accidental taking out of Stoner by Rossi....or.....the fact that Rossi had just passed half the field and was FAR quicker than the field and Stoner on his whizz bang Honda, on the bike that only Stoner can ride......I thought Rossi was Melandrish at best????? I thought Casey Stoner was a riding god and the only one who could do anything with the Ducati? How is it that the riding god even let Rossi get close to him, let alone past!

Time to enjoy some Festered turd on toast this morning
<

It is a shame that Rossi made the mistake for he easily had the measure of the field and would have gone on to win judging by his form after the stack.....the pass was clean, he just lost the front, bad luck that's racing, a little Boneheaded yes, but he was much faster and looking to catch Simo asap. In fact most of the other 5 or 6 passes Rossi completed successfully up to this point were even tighter. Mistakes were also more frequent than at any recent (last ten years) round I can remember. Stoner just happened to be very unlucky. Last time Rossi made a mistake like this was in fact Motegi-2005, taking out Melandri actually! Win it or Bin it as they say.....that's why you all like Stoner so much isn't it? Funny that.....

Rossi did the right thing and immediately apologized after the race, even walking into the dragons den at Repsol Honda! Only to be exposed what was a very angry (rightly so) Stoner, anger however should never blur the lines of professionalism for these guys-at least in front of the cameras! A simple wry smile and 'That was dumb mate, I'll have to make sure you don't catch me next time!' would have given Stoner the 'edge'.

Stoners behavior however, once again dredged up his all too familiar weakness, with all the grace of a petulant child who just had his toys removed from the cot. He was funny though! I wonder if he thought up those lines himself or had help from Livio? They had plenty of time to sort the script and it was great! Ultimately though, Stoner will live to seriously regret this behavior, if not already in the light of a new day and hindsight, much like post race Laguna 08.

Stoner, as with many others, certainly had a right to be very pissed with the Marshall's though, this was beyond appalling.......

Most have been saying how Casey's persona has changed at Honda, how he is so much more relaxed and professional, this is rubbish. Yesterday proved that even after he had plenty of time to cool down, he still had to throw cheap shots publicly at the the man who he does in fact truly hate. In the past this immaturity and spoilt brat behavior has led ultimately to Casey's downfall on track and off, whether or not he can turn this latest dummy spit into something positive for himself will be interesting.....

Rossi will be of course very pissed and disappointed at his .... up, as he should be, very unlike him to push so many passes especially so close to the lead, guess he just couldn't wait to put the duck in front of Stoner's Honda
<
Lucky it was slow and no one was hurt.

I sure Spies and Edwards are quite pissed with themselves too! Guaranteed podiums and no pressure slip offs.

And Johnnyknock, looks like Nicky has already put pay to your prediction! 2nd round, the stakes should have been higher for this one!

Rossi today really F€&kd it up badly. He was doing exceedingly well and there were still 21 laps to go. He had the choice, but he chose to force an impossible pass on the brakes when he could just have waited. No excuses. Sad that Stoner has to pay the price for this blunder, and that the race was spoiled.
<

I pointed this out earlier. Why the rush? He's such a big pro. Is it not common logic

that races are not won in the first few turns? He was behaving like a hyperactive kid.

Maybe he needs Ritalin. Maybe he needs memory enhancing meds so he won't forget he's not

on the Yamaha anymore.

I Should have known better, this is what was said

Rossi 'wasn't trying to pass Stoner'

By Toby Moody, Matt Beer, Michele Lostia Sunday, April 3rd 2011, 16:03 GMT

Valentino RossiValentino Rossi says he was not even trying to overtake Casey Stoner when he took the Honda rider out of second in the Spanish Grand Prix.

Rossi had made rapid progress from 11th on the grid on the wet track, but fell when challenging Stoner for second place and knocked the Honda over in the process. The former champion said he had simply outbraked himself and dodged to the inside hoping to miss Stoner.

We were lucky today with the weather, and the weather gave us a great chance to have the first victory or the first podium with the Ducati. Unfortunately I threw away this chance with a mistake."

He was encouraged that his damaged shoulder - which is still recovering after winter surgery to fix an injury sustained in a motocross crash a year ago - was not an issue in the wet.

"In the wet I could ride at 100 per cent with my shoulder," Rossi said. "I could brake where my eyes said to brake, because the force on the shoulder in the wet is a lot less because the grip of the tyre is less. It's since the beginning of last year that I've not had this feeling. This made me optimistic."

Just doing some PR work to save face.

It may be unacceptable to you. But this ruthlessness and win at all cost philosophy made a legend out of him and has caught the imagination of millions of racing fans across the globe. I guess, Rossi is a bit like Senna (for the better or worse)

Same can be said for Pol Pot and Stalin. (see... I didn't mention H----r)

This is the biggest load of sophomoric, antagonistic Bopper ........ and you guys are so unimaginative that you constantly recycle the same line of bogus crap. Tell me, or anyone here with a straight face that if you were being paid millions of dollars to win

championships, had worked your entire life since the age of 11 and sacrificed anything and everything, spent

countless hours, weeks, months, years training and training and training and suffered through multiple serious,

painful injuries and undergone numerous surgeries and committed yourself heart and soul to one purpose and

one purpose only... to win that race - that after being knocked down by an irresponsible clown - you would just

pat him on the back and say "There there old chap, think nothing of it - in fact why don't you pop by my place

later for a spot of tea?" This demonizing of Stoner for simply speaking his mind - is a totally disingenuous

straw man fantasy on your part and and you know it as well as I do.
