I'd be satisfied if he is the first ever WSBK and MotoGP world champion. Someone needs to bridge the gap b/c Americans have a much better chance at landing a ride in WSBK than they do clawing their way through the GP ranks.

Doohan was what? 29 or 30 yrs old when he took his first premier class
championship.

Seriously ,there are many factors to dial in on this one,having the hunger for a start,the best machinery,strength of opposition and a good head for psychology.........there are many more but I`ll let others put in there say.I`m not greedy!

I like your spirit,but that doesnt hide the fact that you are insane. I think Stoner will win the title next year if he doesnt have a mental break down again. Anything above 5th will be gravy on a remarkable year for Spies

and dont rule out dani or lorenzo. dani is unjured free atm, a first since a couple of seasons he's going into winterbreak without injuries. + no puig

Next season will be one of the best yet for depth of quality......Dani will have to be on his 110% form 24/7.If he can`t get his head around that,then he`s in trouble,Marijke.

dude........Doohan was 29 when he won his fist Champion ship, 34 on his last.
W. Rainey won his first Championship when he was 30 he would have had more than 3 if not for his crash. Lawson won his last two in his early 30s.

So Ben being too old for the gig is horseshit....

I agree with the last statement. But only after Vale retires will Ben come into his own.

Spies will be up there by the 2nd half of the season. I think Doohan was correct in assuming 11 will get at least a win or two in '10. I think he'll get at least 1 win in the 2nd half of the calendar. Challenge for the title in '11? Possibly. It does look like he has alien DNA.

One thing I'm thankful for is that Spies is halfway to proving that SBK guys can be fast on a GP bike. I was really hoping he would prove that assumption wrong and it looks like he's going to.

But, does that mean he has to post better stats than Hayden?

Well he has to find another 40 seconds over a race distance yet , but good luck to him, it will be nice to have 5 aliens if it happens.

I admire your optimism, but I'd wait till I see how he goes when the lights go out next year.

nah, Doohan's more optimistic than me, he said 2 wins and challenge for the title Y2. i think he'll prob get a win in the 2nd half, but challenge in Y2 for the title? possibly.

I think also Ben will be a regular front runner and a top gun of motogp, and even next year he will reach some podiums, if not win.
