I never had anything against Ben Spies. I have to say that even with the close competition with Haga, I've just grown to love him more round after round. Haga will always be my number 1. But Spies will join him on my list very soon. Specially when he goes to MotoGP. I'm not a 100% Ben Spies fan but I'm getting there

To me as a relative newcomer to teh Spies phenomenon (lack of cover of AMA in Australia - dorry to mention Oz MDub
) what I had seen of Spies this year was born from Australian Print Media and web sources, and to be fair I had no real idea other than that to stick with and beat Mladin the potential was there (as I do rate Mladin).
Of course, when one relies on print media we canot judge the person and I have to say that what I see in this video makes me like the guy as he comes across as dry, witty and more than willing tolaugh at himself. A top shely effort and if this is genuine (can the US guys throw in thoughts there please) then the WSBK and MotoGP paddocks have a lot to look forward to no matter which he goes to.
As to teh video itself, for mine this was far funnier than the other Yamaha video wheret he 4 riders went to the head office for 'work experience', this one just had something about it that the other lacked (IMO).
Good for Toseland as well to be prepared to put .... on his own efforts as in this field that does take some kahunas.
As for the Rossi/..... at the end - to be it almost seems to indicate that Spies is clearly the annointed successor as it looks like VR giving approval for the methods. Sure that is a long draw but hell, why not, we have a few weeks until the next race

Yeah I'd say that's pretty well accurate. He has a pretty good head on his shoulders, pretty decent sense of humor but he's certainly not the next Valentino or Lorenzo or even Hayden. When it's race weekend, it's all business. He's been like that as long as he's been riding Superbikes, at least that's what I gather.

If you have ever seen the footage on youtube of Ben Spies's Q lap of Valencia 2009 superpole you would look down the comments and see "this is art in its purest form" and I wholeheartedly agree. That is what it is.

i'm pretty sure Rossi holding the cat refers to Ben talking about picturing the track as a kitten, not the WLF he has on his leathers. i don't think Yamaha would do that in an ad for youtube.

Spot on gaz, Ben seems to have taken a page from another Texan on how to relax and enjoy his craft & life in general for that matter. I was luck enough to meet him at an ama race at road america the year before he won his first title. He was the same guy he is now, we were joking with eachother within the first 2 minutes of meeting. He is every bit the person you see in the video. The video was straight gold.
And gaz don't take my anti-stoner ramblings as I don't like Oz. I actually love the place and all the people I have met from the and of roo's. I ride with a Corser signature Shark helmet, does that help? It has nothing to do with his place of origin that I don't like cs thats fo-sho.
But I do call ........ on the icecream and preztle diet. He stole that from a former world champ. Sorry gaz.
