<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Son of Doohan @ Feb 8 2008, 04:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Be interesting to see how he goes against CV at Laguna, cause CV's always been pretty quick there.

It won't be much of a contest. CV is really good around Laguna and he will have 2.5 years more experience by the time raceday rolls around.

I do anticipate though, that Spies should do significantly better than Roger Lee did last year. He will be on a bike suited for the circuit and he is already used to riding a Suzuki with lots of traction control.

I really think he has an outside chance to podium.

I think Vale, Stoner, and Verme are podium shoo ins. If one of them has a bad start, or gets the setup wrong, Spies may have a chance to get on the steps.

Hopper is going to be absolutely miserable during the American rounds this year. Spies is going to steal the show. Nicky is already loved so he probably won't be freaking out too much.

Texas is back in GP!!!!

Spies would; NO, IS going to wipe his ... with CV
<

In fact, he's going to BURY Stoner there, then tea bag his wife in the Suzuki pits.

Are you guys kidding
If CV didn't have a fuel problem he might have taken 1st at Laguna in 2006.
He rips there.
There's no way Spies could beat him there with 4 hours total on that bike.
Given time maybe, but definitely not so soon.

Where does Colin 'The Texas Tornado' Edwards come from and live?

I would not be surprised if Spies is on the podium, I remember hearing last year that on his superbike he had a qualifying good enough for 11th on the motogp grid.

Ben's gonna do what Troy Bayliss did at Valencia in '06.. wipe the floor clean on their guest bike.

I keep thinking he retired this season.

Sorry, Colin.

I think he will step aboard the finest race machine Suzuki has ever produced and I can't wait to see him in action. I will be at Indy for sure.

^^^ Please keep in mind that Nicky was riding the RC51 (over 900cc displacement engine) while Matt Mladin was riding the underpowered GSXR-750. Nicky is a very talented World Champion, but he did not win that title on equal machinery.

Even if that was the case...........what's Mladin's excuse now?!

No offense to Mladin, I love excellence even if it's an Australian laying waste to the AMA, but when the good ones come along Mat takes a back seat.

If anything Hayden and Spies should write thank you letters to Mat. He is the measuring stick. Year after year he keeps riding knowing he'll probably never get a ride somewhere else. That's commitment.
