As you would know last year at the Moto 2 Misano GP. The Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa sadly lost his life, after accidentally being run over by English Rider Scott Redding.

After the Moto GP race it was announced Tomizawa had passed away.

The BBC's Moto GP commentator Steve Parrish was asked to give his views on the death.

I have never ever in my life seen someone be so dis-respectful towards someones death. Not only did Parrish sound like he did not care, but to make matters worse he kept on talking about how Scott Redding had slightly injured himself. Parrish was not bearing any sympathy towards Shoya Tomizawa and kept on talking about the English rider. Not only was this dis-respectful but also very biased. I have noticed how the BBC are always talking about the British riders even when they are performing badly.

From that day on I have been very angry with Parrish and the BBC.

All that Parrish and the BBC proved on that day was that an Asian mans life is worth less than an Englishman's.

So you're accusing the British Broadcasting Company of focusing on the British riders. Next thing, you'll be accusing Sportmediaset of talking mainly about Simoncelli and Rossi, or even TVE (Television Espanola) of spending much more time on Lorenzo and Pedrosa than on Nicky Hayden and Ben Spies.

Bang on. Beat me by a minute.

I can't say i remember Parish being dis-respectful but it was a while ago . Why bring it up now?

Viper ....... first of all ..... Welcome.

I think you need to think of the position Parrish is in, what with being an an ex rider, and also as somewhat of an ambassador and diplomat for their "doings".

I'm sure Parrish would have a strong understanding of what comradeship exists in the paddock.

One minute Shoya was there, and was from all accounts a very liked member of the paddock. There were several riders involved in the incident, I think Parrish was just being thoughtful for those other riders involved in the incident. Indeed nobody but them was effected as much. It reportedly affected Redding very much.

The nearest I could equate it too would be like playing with your brother, and the next minute he is dead from an activity that you had some input to. How would you feel and what would folk be thoughtful of in respect of you?

I don't doubt for a minute that Parrish would have been as thoughtful of Shoya should he have been in Reddings shoes and Vice Versa.

Well if you listen closely he is not showing any sympathy towards Tomizawa he keeps talking about Scott Redding he is acting like he doesn't care. Thanks for the reply.

Viper, ive never heard of this, can u provide a transcript, or mayb a video. Thnx

Rider bias toward country of origin is fine and to b expected. Speed ch always tells us about the American riders bcuz they know we r interested. All normal. Nothing wrong with that, but it sounds like u r saying he was overtly disrespectful or dismissive toward Tomizawa. I'd like to hear the incident.

Agreed. I have no experience with the BBC broadcasters and I'm not familiar with the commentary being discussed. If you're able Viper, post a link so that we can either read it or listen to it. Thanks.

As much as I loath Cox and Parish, and the BBC's cursory grasp of the sport..........I am adamant this never happened.

I have refrained from replying to this thread untill I had time to check this out.

I have all last years races on my hard drive except this one (I deleted it as a mark of respect to Tomi).

However I have a friend whom still has it on his. I contacted him last night & asked him to review the end of the race & see if theres any truth to the accusation towards the BBC. Whom I must stress I have my own grievences with regarding moto gp.

To what I can work out after a phone conversation last night is:

Firstly all the commentators were in a state of shock, their voice tones were significantly different after the accident.

Secondly the first thing that was said from the said commentators was a message of condolence to the family of Tomi & how all in moto gp would miss him.

Regarding Mr Parrish. yes he did speak of scotts injuries but not excesively & he also spent roughly the same time speaking about de angelis who was actually the first person to hit Tomi.

After reading the attachment from Mr Shupe I also noticed it was only posted 15 hours ago. Are you & that poster one in the same?

Anyway my conclusion is that you have some sort of grievence towards Parrish & the only reason you appeared here is because no other site will tollerate your drivel.

As much as I would like to see Parish hung high by the ...... I affraid your accusations appear unjust & this will not be the time.

I will be reviewing the after race talk later today & if my opinion is changed after watching it first hand it shall be posted forthwith.

I also must hasten to add that the BBC paid a fine tribute to Tomi at the sports personality of the year as they did to all fallen sportsmen of the year. I know this is fact because it actually brought a tear to my eye.
