I've become a biker!! (ish)

Been getting the bug for a while after lots and lots of minimoto racing, i've gone and got myself a Honda NS125F! I plan to just do trackdays at the moment with a Novice ACU licence (thanks Pigeon) and see how I go.

I cheated a bit as the bike is my dads and two of my brothers learned to ride on it, but the piston broke and it got abandoned for a while as can be seen below, so i've started a rebuild ready to hit the track next year, and today picked up the spanking freshly powder coated chassis, I can't wait to get it built up and will keep you all updated!

Thanks, I haven't yet as i'm not sure if I have to just for trackdays (the bumf hasn't come through yet), but if so I think I'll go with NG road racing. Hand clutch is fine as I use that on my kart, i'm just a bit nervous about co-ordinating downchanges...though i'll be having plenty more practice at the local kart track before I venture out.

They're good little bikes those, I nearly had one at 17 but got a VT250 instead (different laws here in Jersey back then)
It's going to be underpowered on the track but don't give up just try to get the hang of riding it then concentrate on positioning the bike correctly and braking and cornering. It'll be fun and addictive!

Yeah its been a great little bike for us! I'm aware it wont be that quick (though my brother got the 110mph speedo off the clock when he did a trackday on it) but i'm a runt, relatively new to bikes so something thats light, nimble and easier to ride is ideal for me....hell I struggle with the weight of a Kawasaki ER-5!

#22.... Doesn't matter, motorcycle or car. Just let me know the time and place and I will teach you some lessons on racing, after you learned the hard way of course.

Well, took the chassis home over the weekend, and the old man is getting all the seals and bushes needed in the next week or so, along with getting the front forks re-chromed while getting the new barrel & piston fitted.

Meanwhile, i've been putting a lot of bits in the detergent tank at work, so all the plastic tanks (oil, water) are now spanking along with other bits and bobs. I've also started de-rusting and cleaning up the rear brake lever, stand and the like.

The bracket on the battery cage that the coolant tank bolts too was a bit soft, so I got a welder at work to build the corner up with a bit of weld. Its not the best job but i'll paint it up and see, if it still looks crap there is a spare one I can use

The radiator was knackered, so I decided to use the spare one we had that was in better nick, here it is after cleaning

A good soak in the detergent tank also transformed this...

Footpeg arms cleaned up ok..

Here are the old footpegs and they are pretty rough. The bigger ones were in a box of bits with the bike and I tried machining them down to fit but they were too big, so a new set is on order.

Thats it so far, hopefully next week will have some re-assembly photos.

Gotta say man, if its slower than a VTR250 - PRACTICE LINES - otherwise you'll be thinking about napping while you're on track...
