"It's been a big heaping pile of dog ...., is what it's been this year," Edwards says in characteristic fashion.

No wonder he gets Stoner giggling like a schoolgirl.

Dang!! I kinda wish Edwards would have gone back to WSBK last year! ...... Gracie may get ample "Daddy Admiration" the way things are looking there.

Edwards and Capi to WSBK I say !! Biaggi needs some competition, and those two would give it to him.

Funny, I remember Collie gushing about the same ride back in March / April.

Methinks Herve will need to find TWO riders for next year.

(I still argue that a good ...-chewing by R Lee Emery would go a long way toward turning around Colin's season.)

"Maybe I spent too long on a Superbike to begin with. I don't know. Developed some bad habits. But the ... I would say the lack of interest ... that's a better word. To go out there and put your balls on the chopping block to make a last-lap do-or-die pass for 11th. That's not ... I've never ... I'd just as soon go home and get a hot dog stand and roll it around town."

This is what I've been saying about Edwards for the last two years. It's not that I don't respect or like him.

He's a good 'ol boy and has accomplished much in WSBK, and you can't take that away from him. But

looking at what Spies has done on the same bike this year - gives us some perspective, whether it be

Edwards' talent fading, or his motivation failing. Not everybody can be a grinning, happy-to-please Capirossi

running around on whatever the sponsor flings at him. What's ailing Edwards is just a more advanced

version of what's killing Hayden's career. They're Superbike guys who never really adapted to MGP style

riding. Look at how Lorenzo (who never slides the back end) is doing. I really think that's what it boils down

to. At least Edwards can show his kids videos of his triumphs in WSBK.

He should have come back to WSB exactly when he was fired from the factory Yamaha team...or at most the year after. It was obvious at that time already that without factory equipment you can not win anything in MotoGP any more. Actually even if you have factory stuff...to beat Rossi or now the other aliens, you need something more.

I see that WSB can be a step back in some ways but just look at the good old pirate or Checa, they fight for the win from race to race and they are happy. Since I own a Kwak, let me forget about the feelings of Chris V...or JT for another matter.
<

I hope he comes back on the Duke and let us see some more of that warrior who beat the great Bayliss in Imola almost 8 years ago!

Tech .... more than a yr on it and its a career killer..not herve's fault he can only do so much with what hes given

I think you'll remember that Tech3 were positively awful backmarkers with junk motorcycles and Dunlop tires in 2007 (though they did manage a few results). In 2008 Tech 3 managed to obtain Michelin tires and 2008 factory motorcycles without a title sponsor. Tech 3 team was the place to be if you couldn't get a factory ride, and no one fully understood that satellite bikes were career killers at the time.

In retrospect, all Grand Prix riders should have gone to WSBK in 2007.

I am just saying that if he could not win on a factory Yamaha for years, what made he think this will change on a sat-spec machine. You are right about Tech3 being very good at that time...actually I think they are good even now...compared to their level on Dunlops. Colin just lost something in MotoGP, the fighting spirit what he definitely had in WSB.

It will be good for him to be back - if the rumour is true -, the Duc will suit him as well and - in spite of Toseland - his confidence is alright . He must be a very good at developing and setting up a bike so he will be a front runner immediately in WSB. What I am curious about...why Yamaha does not offer him a place in their factory SBK-team?! JT will lose his ride for sure and go somewhere else and Crutchlow may go to MotoGP. After a season like this they need someone like exactly CE, who is still fast and gets the bike sorted with his huuuge experience.

Okay...now MotoGP on!

This line of reasoning didn't exist back then.

It was more like Checa in WSBK now.

1. I don't need the pressure and the politics of the factory team

2. I want to get away from the factories #1 rider

3. I don't want to develop

4. I need to start fresh with a new team and crew chief.

No one realized until the end of 2009 that it was more or less impossible to win without factory development and factory electronics technicians.

The Swedish comentator is going on about Colin Edwards already has signed with Xerox Ducati WSBK team.

Has anyone heard or seen anything about this?

Perhaps he can have racewins again then. And a happier ending of the racing career.

so if the bike's a steaming pile of ....... does that make colin the useless crusty bit on top that the flies can't even blow?

SPOT ON

AND IF IT'S SOOOOO BAD - HOW COME PIE MAN CAN FIGHT CLOSE TO - IF NOT AT THE POINTY END??

I think Colin's time in motogp has finally come to an end. Even without wins or many big results Edwards always had an argument for staying. Just last year he was the 5th best rider in the world wasn't he? But now, it seems there isn't a strong case for him to be here. The question becomes what to do next, the back to WSBK dream seems nice, but i wouldn't be too sure about it yet

This thread has made me think about my own favorite rider: Nicky Hayden, and his struggles in Moto GP. I would really like to see him on a Xerox Ducati instead of a Moto GP Ducati. He showed such promise at the beginning of the year, but now he seems to be slipping backwards again. He has tried very hard to adapt to GP, but he doesn't seem to have it in him.

I want to see if he can regularly run at the front in WSBK. He is a solid rider who makes relatively few mistakes; who knows what he could do in SBK with seven or eight race wins complemented by more consistent riding. I want to see him begin a new chapter in his career.

This top-five-at-best riding has grown tiresome to me (it's a good thing he doesn't race to please me!
<
). Sorry Jumkie, but I'm starting to lose faith in Nicky as a GP rider.

One big difference with Colin from WSBK days and the MotoGP days. He is a father now and you are less likely to risk your ... when you have kids. You may not think it changes anything but it really does.

He has more to lose than Ben Spies does.

I have been a fan of Colin since his early AMA days and to see him riding around mid pack is heartbreaking... He is a better rider than that. He wasn't doing too much better on the Factory team either.

Something has left Colin over the last few years...I'm not so sure WSBK will be the answer.

I'd be super sad to see colin go,he is one of my favorite riders of all time and i'm totally sure that he has what it takes in him to win and be one of the top 5 guys, maybe even fight for a championship if he would have ended up in the right team. it's kinda hard for me to say "oh he had his chance and failed" when we know that the only time he really had a chance to fight for wins was as rossis teammate during his prime.i guess even greats the like of doohan an co would have looked bad if they had to race in the same team as rossi in 2002-2005 (i'm not comparing edwards to doohan here,i'm just saying rossi was without the shadow of a doubt invinceable at the time).

however i really don't get why people say his riding isn'T suited to gp..

i hope colin goes back to wsbk and fight for the title, after watching the 2002 season lately again, i'm absolutely convinced that he can reach bayliss/fogarty numbers if he has still enough years in him to race at the front.

get him on a ducati or r1. WSBK Champion 2011: Colin Edwards!

i hardly ever see colin sliding his yamaha,in that respect nicky is much more of a "SBK" rider
