Rossi's missing white line explained

Bridgestone has confirmed that Valentino Rossi was using the softer compound front tyre at the German Grand Prix.

The softer compound tyres on offer at each MotoGP weekend are marked by a white line, but Rossi's front tyre didn't have such a marking.

“Rossi's front tyre was indeed the softer compound, but it wasn't painted due to an error in the painting process,” a Bridgestone spokesman told Crash.net.

“This was realised in time to confirm to all the other teams that Rossi was using a soft front tyre, and the correct tyre allocation information was also distributed within the press room and paddock before the start of the race.

“Each white line is painted as required after the fitting process. They cannot be painted before mounting as during the mounting process the paint would crack owing to the narrow width and stiffness of the sidewall. Hence they are all painted in the Bridgestone fitting area on-event.

“Also, it is the softer option that is painted each weekend. In Donington, we are using the soft and medium compounds so the soft compound will be painted. In Brno for example, we have the medium and hard rear slicks, so in this case it will be the medium compound that is painted. This also requires a degree of flexibility in the painting process.

“The white lines are for the benefit of television and photography, and the riders do not rely on these markings to see which Bridgestone tyre options their rivals are on.”

Rossi, who was also using a soft rear tyre (with a while line present), won the race by just 0.099sec over Fiat Yamaha team-mate and title rival Jorge Lorenzo. Lorenzo ran soft front/hard rear, as did Honda's Dani Pedrosa (third).

The next best rider after Rossi using the softer compound front and rear was fifth placed Alex de Angelis.

so what ? some geek forgot to paint the stripe. All teams were told in plenty of time so whats the big deal ?

Ahh.... at last an explanation (suitable to Rossi fans) of why he was bent
over looking at his tire. He was saying "Aaaaye! Whotta 'appen? Whoosa
been ....... witta my whita stripe?"

As if we didn't already know Rossi has Bstone in his back pocket. I'm sure there was nothing wrong with the "special" tire. Just like with Michelin, still getting the "special" stuff, eh? Amazing, a random allotment, and he's the only one that get the "special" marking (or lack there of).

Well they have to make sure they don't give him a .... tire like dovi got, or they wont be the only tire manufacturer in motogp just like that.

This was my fear when the spec tire rule came out. Tire manufacturers playing favorites in the name of marketing. Although I think it would be quite difficult to pull off. It is quite peculiar that it was Rossi's tire that this mistake was made on and not someone further down the order.

id say ducati would be dished the good tyres over any other manufacturer on the grid if anyone was having special tyres....

like i said before bridgestones are the iffy ones... riders getting dodgy tyres now forgeting the paint...dani had something inside his tyre...quality control must be amazing

A lot of folks had tire problems even before the halfway mark of the race. I'm guessing it was just a setup issue
<
BTW who was it that pointed out that Rossi's tires looked brand new in parc ferme. Of course its down to tire management and Rossi being the GOAT. Only speculating

"Uccio, hold our matching hat, I need a closer look at this ........ tire, this isn't the one I ordered from the back room! Go tell the guy to bring the 'Saturday night special', you know, the one without the white line, ....... it. How the hell am I suppose to win this title for Dorna with Lorenzo breathing down my neck if I don't get the tires I want!"

No, no, no, I think he said, (now this is pure speculation stoner fans), something like this "So I ad Adriaaana bent over like deese and I poke it and say, Faahhck! Adriaaana I ah tinka something dieda in dere. I wish ah I ad dese rubber gloves on den-ah." But I could be wrong.

While we're speculating . . . if someone was going to get preferential
treatment - under the table - it would the rider with the most influence
(Rossi) and the rider with greatest potential of winning the championship
(Rossi) and the team with the biggest budget (Yamaha) which would
put them in the position of having the greatest amount of sway with
Bridgestone.

Or

"Holy ...., that dude Babelfish from Poweslide forum was right, my tires are shredding!"
<

(Actually, it would probably sound like this: "Mama mi, I push push, but I see its not pohsoble, so yes, maybe Babelfish is correct, the tyers shredding."

Good comeback compa. Hahaha. Well, I'm a bit bored as you can tell. All the Rossi Mindless have finally come around and given Hayden his props, so I have nothing to do. And seeing how the poor Stoner fans are getting dusted and clobbered, well how am I going to use all this unspent debating energy?
