Single Tyre Regulations

tyres allocated at random is a very welcome rule and should allay many of the concerns for us.

still wont give us close racing at the front though...

Are you hinting to there being a conspiracy in Moto GP?

Personally I am glad to hear they are putting in a random allocation rule. Only thing I am upset about is they should have went with some other company than Bridgestone or Michelin so all the teams were on the same level and had no previous advantage. Oh well, I agree with Curve, I think it won't be a 2006 990cc season, but still better then last year.

They stole my idea, kinda. When this started i said the only way to make it to where there was no conspiracy charges was to have a drawing 1-19 and the rider who picks # 1 walks over to 19 sets of weekend tires and chooses his stack and so on.

In a word: Yup.

Also, I think the racing will be closer than last year. Really, could it have been any worse than 08?

I agree with this too. I don't think it can get worse, so it should propably be atleast slightly better.

True. (Unthinkable by me)

Some people need to have something ready to make excuses for their rider.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Babelfish @ Dec 24 2008, 08:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>It seems like a very small amount. Only 6 rear slicks of one type isn't much for the whole weekend with +5 sessions of 60 min.

I'd imagine it will frustrate the chassis set-up process and development in general. Garages with the most intuitive mechanics will - as always - do better. I suspect somehow, that Kaw and Suz will suffer more over this limitation.

The single tyre rule will probably improve the racing ever so slightly, but what concerns me is the stingy tyre allocation to each rider. This will reflect in one thing each and every race weekend.
Bugger all action on Fridays due to riders trying to save rubber for later in the weekend.
This will also mean less time to setup the bikes. Bear in mind that there is no qualifying rubber anymore and every rider will probably require brand new rubber to qualify as high as they can on. We may see some riders starting the race on used rubber. I have no problem with the rule, just give them a few more tyres to play with.

Something like fantom tire disintegrations.

Let the riders use what has been alocated and let see if those fast tyre shredding riders are as good as their test times say they are, or will it show those riders' weaknesses and their true lack of smooth rider skills and abilities....

Lorenzo
Kallio

Capirossi

Who will suffer from this rule?
Everyone else

I am looking forward to it...

I know you have your problems understandig physical and technical issues Jumkie, but observing something and make guesses based on observations, even if they are wrong is something very different than making excuses based on badly founded conspiracy theories , especially when our gussings were replaced by michelins official explanation and official excuses for doing the wrong choise. A faulty tire is a faulty tire regardless of it being shredded to pieces or being way too hard for the pour down of rain. Most people are able to grasp this but as I said above you really have some problems in that area, just to bad you can't move on. I guess it is because you still feel you had some kind of victory over me on that one becuase I made the wrong guess under the race. Sorry to brake the news but the bystander comming into the discussion a week later with the answeres written all over the web don't win any price for telling us we were wrong-gussing 6 days earlier, especially not when the original guessings even had the right direction.

As it is christmas and everything I wanted to avoid talking about what real excuses look like. How one explain why a rider staying with the best team ever for five years producing as little as three race wins over all those years still deserves a top ride. Now that would take some talent and I'm sure you got that talent.
