Simoncelli: "I Turned Down A Million Dollar MotoGP Contract"

"I don't want to serve another apprenticeship year," Simoncelli stated. Thats strange because what does he think is going to happen when he moves up to motogp?

He is very confident, isn't he?

I think it's a bit weird, but... Well, I guess he has a plan of going to Moto GP in 2010 and not before that... And maybe he just wants to win 250 two times?

Really, I don't know! I don't get it, but think he isn't in a hurry to MotoGP yet. He isn't exactly old, now is he?

He's hoping that Rossi will retire, so he can be the sole glorified Italian. (perhaps) But then again there is Dovi, and that will be a serious scrap.

hes not the brightest bulb in the box is he... but hes a damn excellent racer! i think hes hopin for a more competetive ride than were availible to him this season. he probably would have taken the scot honda ride but that place was reserved for the token japanese rider.
<

maybe he thought that once you win the 250 title twice, you enter motogp as a serious championship contender just like lorenzo ans pedrosa before him....?

<

does seem a bit odd but that might be a translation thing too. maybe he just wants to be the last rider to win a 250 title before the 600s come in..

<

Thomas luthi thought the same when he was in 125cc ! That did him good !

Its not that odd, or stupid a move (or not move...) to stay with 250s. Nothing breeds success more than confidence and staying on and winning (if he can/does) for another season in 250s will definitely increase the confidence and maturity that Super Sic is nurturing now. Too many young guns move up too early only to see their careers go bust.

Hey Micky, do you think that's what Biaggi thought...

well you know as much as everyone dislikes biaggi his career in the 500/990s wasn't so bad. he stayed to long in the 250s. he should have left after his 2nd championship.

I agree buddy, I think Biaggi stayed too long. Four titles was two too much.

For the record: I'm not one of those that dislike Biaggi. I actually have a soft spot in my heart for the guy. I've always felt his peculiar approach and attitude had more to do with his childhood than it did with racing. The guy was abandoned by his mom at a young age. Also, his premier career was very impressive and is in a class of riders with the most wins never to have won a title; Sete & Randy--considering who won the title when these three men came runner up is all one needs to know how great of a career these men had.

exactly! their misfortune were named doohan, rossi & in randys case jeeez were do ya start roberts, spencer, lawson, rainey, schwantz he never stood a chance. i must say though out of these 3 biaggi had a window of opportunity in 99 & 2000. i believe that he should have won in either one or both of these seasons.

Yeah, Jum, I think Max stayed too long - but I do not think staying for a possible two titles is.

I think Simoncelli may have watched this movie recently

He's confusing Robert Redford with Puig.
Puig made him the same offer as Redford did in the movie.
$1million for a ride.

Puig is sick of riding Dani
