WTF happened with Redding?

I missed the first half of the qualifying and came to it he was 19th, but gained ground a couple of laps before the flag to get 10th.

He's not making the WC easy, is he?

In Moto3 we had championship leader Salom on pole. In MotogGP, we have championship leader Marquez on pole. In Moto2 ... oh dear.

It's very frustrating seeing Redding doing so poorly in the second half of the year. Hopefully he'll be able to come back in the race again, but I'd really, really, like to see him have pole positions and win races again.

At least he's not burning out completely - he's managing to get some decent points himself and keep his season in the hunt.

He does OK at PI - hopefully he will be back to form.

Scot did not look like a championship leader this weekend. I was hoping for more given its a relatively flat circuit.

Horrific crash, glad everyone is ok. The red flag ...... Scotts race. He got a great start the first time but it was all in vien. Secodtime wasn't so great but as the race was shortened to 12 laps time wasn't on his side to make up the possisons. A bit of bad luck but hey, still in the lead by 9 pts so all not lost. I think he is still struggling with arm pump so i'm sure the short race helped him there. Had this gone full distance it would have been an interesting race and come down to tyre management as they were all on the old style Dunlops. It was debatable whether these tyres could last full race distance. The new tyres were still stuck i the high seas i believe.

Bummed for Redding, the first start was great and he looked ready to challenge.

Was glad to see everyone pretty much walk away from one of the worst crashes I've seen in a long time.

9 points between Espargo and Redding, it's going to come down to the wire, come on Redding!

One thing that could make it difficult for Redding now the gap is closed is that Rabat looks like the in form rider. He might get a few opportunities to help out the team and this championship might go right down to the last few laps of the season.

Bloody hell that crash was massive. Everyone involved went down hard, glad to see no serious injuries.

Crash happened 100m from where I was sitting. The whole gang stand was pretty silent until the announcer said everyone fine. Sic's demise is still fresh here.

Looked nasty. Glad all riders are relatively unscathed. That bloke who hit the bike head-on and went over the bars looked worst in the telly.

Some faking sympathy sucking oversized brown leathers wearing union flag fairinged VD(s) rider?

Go Scott!

"There was no way I was going home after Australia, not when there was even an outside chance I could ride in Japan. Even after the surgery on Sunday morning I knew I was going to Japan to try and ride. The surgery was a success, Dr. Andrew Oppy and his staff did a great job, and the recovery has been exactly as expected. From Sunday morning onwards I’ve been working to restore the movement and strength in my left hand and, as the medical staff here at Motegi have now confirmed, I’m fit to ride. I have to undergo another assessment after the two free practice sessions tomorrow, but I’ll know straight away whether it’s possible to race. If I’m fit to race then the goal has to be to ensure the championship battle goes down to the final round in Valencia, for which I’ll have had more recovery time."

Now THAT's a racer!

Amazing that Scott's on the grid. And Pol doesn't look too hot here. But, I think it'll take a DNF from Pol to keep Scott in the race. And I never wish for a rider to have a DNF.
