Hopkins blew it away!
What's gotten into that guy.
I don't believe it before I see it, but as it looks right now, at the start of the Q-session, he should brake away and and take a dominant victory.
He was about 3 tenths faster on average on FP 3, and he's back on it now, allthough not as doninant. Talking about stalking (stoner/elias) Stoner must have given de Puniet ideas, as he shadowed Rossi through the first stint in the q-sesion. Stoner just set the new pace target and de Puniet is out on his first q-tires.

very disspointing from vermy and capirossi... what happened?

yup, casey will surely have the edge on the 1.2km stretch! but it is a long circuit, the others might be able to keep up on the twisty bit, they'll have to work harder then stoner tho..due to ducati's brute power!

What a lap from Valentino!! almost a second faster than Hopkins. Vermuelen sucks ... at qualifying. What the .... happened to Capirossi? 2 Pramac bikes in front, a Kawasaki and the biggest surprise Nakano. Capirex messed up big time.

Cant wait to see the first lap if Casey isn't in the lead, how many riders could he shoot past. Hopkins will need to break everyone else even if he had .5 round the twisties he'll get eaten on the straight. It will be interesting to see who breaks away. The stones' seem to be better in the latter half of the previous races.

It'll be good if Hopper can stay in the battle till lap 22. I think he'll kamikaze Rossi if it means winning the race. That will give Rossi something to whine about.

I've been hesitating all week and I', still not sure but based on the what we've seen so far:

1. Stoner - still to fast on the straights, he and Ducati should recive a speeding ticket.
2. Rossi - Will follow Stoner as in Quatar
3. Hopper - Will work his way through after Stoner and Rossi get away.

IF rossi can get away at the start with anyone but stoner on 2.nd he might be able to create a gap, but I find the possibility very slim. Stoner is quick enough to hold the pace and then all he need is a long straight or two to pass. And even if Rossi manage to create a gap, the chances are that a bridgestone equiped Stoner get back at the end of the race.

Not really disapointing, just a racing incident when Capirex didn't see Vermy on the inside. Maybe the dino is developing a Tunnel-vision?

Outstanding lap from vale.

But Hey, forget the 800s... 125s and 250s are where the real entertainment is

Oh white teeth will win 800s

Props to rossi, he put everyone to shame in Quali. When did we last have a pole that big?

Probably Brno, 2006. Rossi's pole there was equally breathtaking, although Capirossi went on to dominate the race.

Looking at the lap times analysis it seems Rossi, Stoner and Hopkins are the ones to watch on race tyres. But Fiat Yamaha+Michelin is a great combination in qualifying trim--that's the third double front row start for the team this year.

p.s. 100 posts!

Rossi dominated it and his best 2 laps were three quarters of a second faster than the rest!

The yamahas have qualified well this year so i dont think we can get too carried away.

Stoner, Hopkins, Pedrosa and Rossi will probably be the ones battling for the win looking at the longer run times. Vermeulen was as fast as Hopper for most of the session so shall be interesting to see what he can do and Capirossi, Barros and Hoffman should be gaining a lot of positions down the straight.

Looks like a good race!

Going fast on a Qualifying tire and running consistent laps at race pace are two different things. We will see if The Yahama's can run the distance. I think the favorites have to be Stoner on the brute they call Ducati, and The American John Hopkins. I hope Hopkins can finally break through for a win, and hopefully Stoner has engine trouble because that seems like the only way he wont win.
