I should perhaps as well, since I said the way to stop stoner was to take away his preferred "hard" tyre.
As someone opposed to the control tyre I have no problem with them developing a tyre which suits the ducati, there always should have been one, and ducati's survival is vital to the sport. Everyone was also happy when the 2012 tyre was tried last year, before this experimental tyre. Everyone was complaining about the 2011 tyre not performing well cold last year as well; there were unusual conditions last year though with cool temperatures in general and newly laid tracks at several venues which may have influenced things.
Mike, don't get sucked in to the conclusion my friend. Developing a tire for a bike whos rider knows the ins-&-outs of the bike and all its performance characteristics, to then ask for a overnighter with that knowledge in the pocket, is entirely different then guessing how the bike will perform (as far as I know this was the first shakedown by Duc factory riders) given the new tires. Checa & Test rider ABC doesn't amount to jack ..... The riders from Casey to Lorenzo to Rossi were all crying that last years tires were coming up to temp too damn slow. ALL the riders wanted changes. Don't get suckered into the neo-bops anti-stoner conspiracy.
Btw, regarding your reasoning that a tire 'should' be made to suit the Ducati. I disagree if its to give them an unfair advantage. The tire may work better not because they had in mind to .... Stoner and help Ducati, but more importantly, the Duc has been REDESGINED! The bike has been made to mimc the Jap convention of a GP machine. On top of the fact they attempted to improve the tire to avoid all the early race crashes.
The neo-bops crying conspiracy is unbelievable. Stoner is topping the time sheets, went faster from the old tire to the new tire, and I'm still reading foul play. WTF????
