Absolutely appalling!!

Though this also nearly happen at PI last year..........the Gixxer has always been Suzuki Flagship, they should just stick to WSBK

That's crazy, an abomination! Without much deep historical knowledge into MotoGP, it always amazed me how Suzuki can make such perfect street, and superbikes yet lanquish when it comes to prototype racing.

Crazy stat though. Nice job Pigeon.

its mind boggling. you would think that with the advantages MotoGP has over WSBK (the tires, the materials allowed, etc.) the bike would be at the very least a few tenths faster.

I'm not saying Superbikes should be faster than MotoGP bikes (of course not) but when talking about all the advantages of SBK over MotoGP, you're forgetting the 200ccs larger engine that the SBKS have.

It's a condemnation of Suzuki's GP chassis department. The GSRV is slower b/c they chassis is horrible and rear grip is nonexistent.

WSBK Race 1, Silverstone

Fastest Suzuki lap L. HASLAM Suzuki GSX-R1000 2'05.570

MotoGP Race, Silverstone

Fastest Suzuki lap: Alvaro BAUTISTA SUZUKI 2'05.762

Or 0.192 slower.

Sadly I wonder if this is more a condemnation of Capi and Bautista, things never seemed this bad when they had Hopper and Vermy.

Hell, I'd go as far to say that Schwantz needs to don the racing leathers again. Re-schooling everyone it is the rider, not the bike again.

Seriously, we really need Suzuki out there for this series. How is Dorna going to step in and give Suzuki some motivation to catch up. Extra engines? More fuel? Add weight to the other makes? This is a tough call? Something is going to happen since the powers to be will not let them leave GP.

From a business standpoint, Suzuki would be in deeper trouble if the results where flipped. They are focusing on where the money is.

throw some carbon brakes and GP tires on the GSXR1000

The Suzuki GSVR may be a big pile of .... on wheels, but it does not affect sales in America. Im not 100% sure on this, but i am pretty sure the Gsxr is the #1 selling sport bike in America. In Los Angeles 80% of sport bikes are GSXR's.

I think the GSXR is the best selling 1000cc bike. I'm pretty sure 600s still rule the roost in the US--the R6 if I'm not mistaken.

Would it be that bad to lose Suzuki in MotoGP? Yes, they are a factory team, but they can't even beat satellite bikes.

While this is true, it is also true that the 800's turn faster lap times than 990's did. Any way you look at it, its an embarrassment for Suzuki. Rizla could fund 5-6 teams in the WSBK field for what they pump into the Suzuki GP effort and get the same results. Dorna needs to stop enabling Suzuki and their woe is me attitude towards GP racing or it will never end. ...., or get off the pot, no special rules for anyone.

Rizla could maybe fund the Parkalgar squad in World Supersport for what they pump into the Suzuki GP effort. That right there is the problem.

True, the 1000cc bikes were a hell of a lot better especially with Hopkins and KRJR at times.Whats gone wrong,I have no idea.

Really?

If that is the case, and im not questioning, why in the hell would Suzuki keep them as a main sponsor. Even with a tight economy, the other factory teams secured funds to run faster than a WSBK team.

Because they couldn't find anyone who would offer them any more money? Suzuki is universally loathed in the paddock for the price at which they sold their title sponsorship (reputedly, a six figure sum, and not a particularly high one), which is alleged to have wrecked the market and devalued the cost of a title sponsorship. Mind you, there are also people inside the paddock who are angry at Honda for the amount they get from Repsol, which is probably 10 times more than Rizla, but about a fifth of what it should be.
