Sachsenring not on Speed TV

Checking my recording schedule, I noticed Sachsenring is not going to be shown on Speed TV, rather on ABC or NBC. I'm already dreading having to listen to Ralph Shaheen and Fast Freddy try and comment on Moto GP. Just a heads up to those of you, like myself, setup our DVR to record the race.

CBS and I think I read somewhere Kevin Schwantz has announcing duties but never found out who else

Did it say HD somewhere? I read the link and didn't see that it would be broadcast in HD anywhere. I've been waiting for a race to be broadcast in HD but have yet to see it.

yeah same here.

doesn't make sense that cbs would dole out the cash to televise it in the slot it's in, without broadcasting in HD..
again though, what do I know

I don't pay for the high def package but some networks broadcast in HD for free

So whatever is playing on the regular station is also broadcasted on the HD channel. I only get about 4 channels but CBS is one of them. Should be a damn fine showing on my LCD widescreen

No ...., I can't wait

Hmmm.. CBS has this and Laguna, and NBC has Indy from what I last heard.

NBC had Nicky Hayden on the Today show a few years back, and I think they will market this right, as it is INDY, and NBC only covers the NFL in depth.

CBS aired Assen last year and I believe they just took the MotoGP feed and dubbed over the commentators with Schwantz and Shaheen. Oh how I loathe Shaheen. When they have aired F1 it has not been in HD. When Fox aired the USGP last year, it was also not in HD. I expect that Sachsenring and Brno will be MotoGP feeds with Schwantz and Shaheen while Laguna and Indy will have network cameras but unsure if they will be HD.

Thanks for the heads up..

WTF? the commentary in more races (3!) will be screwed up this year than before..

all networks are required to have free to air HD broadcast in the US.

the original feed is not in HD, so seeing a HD broadcast will only be marginally better -- just like Speed's HD broadcast.

no sure but shaheen no longer does MX (on speed), and is now doing NASCAR so I wonder if he will indeed going to be doing the moto GP to be aired on CBS.
don't know who the regular MGP commentators are, but (I think) they are perfect IMO.
Listening to anyone else do it, I belive is a downgrade no matter who it is.

Maybe ITV people. Having Randy Mamola would be great.

I actually ran into Shaheen in the paddock at Miller (WSBK). Wasn't sure if I wanted to shake his hand and say hi or berate him. Honestly there are lots worse then him, for instance the two idiots commenting at Miller over the loudspeakers (if you were there, you would know what I'm talking about). The difference I see between the Euro (Brit mostly) commentators and the American ones are the Euro guys seem to actually follow the sport and know everything about it and are therefore much more into the race, much like all us moto geeks on the forum.

I like Mamola, he just talks too much sometimes, trying to predict every thing that is going to happen in the race and then looks like an arse when it doesn't happen.

as for randy talking too much, I've noticed most ex-racers tend to talk a little too much for my taste
