I've been trying to convince many people but if you look at the facts he was the last michelin rider to win in the wet... remember when he made everyone look silly at Donington and he also won in China on michelins.

The last 5 or so wet races have been won by riders on Bridgestones.

West and Vermuelen use Bridgestones but they are very good wet riders none the less... Melandri also won in semi-wet conditions also on Bridgestones.

It seems they have way more side grip and that is the reason they are so good in the wet... Michelin got it so wrong last year and made Rossi look inadequate in the wet.

Just my 2 cents.

I think all things being equal, Rossi would be beaten. There are to many variables to take in to account when talking about this...it's not just tyres. You need to look at the bike, team, riders experience on the given bike, track etc...

The only thing you can really say is the best always are up the front, but there are a number of riders who can claim to be the best.

i agree. rossi has beaten vermy and westy in the rain and there supposed to be the wet weather kinks and going back a few years ago he beat barros who was a brilliant wet rider.

I think we can all agree that West is the best monsoon rider, too bad that they don't drive races in that kind of weather.

I think his performance in the wet is often overlooked as he has typically performed very well. It certainly doesn't hurt his championships to be a great wet rider. I'm sure if you look back at the data you might even be able to owe some of his championships to good wet performance.

I would not necessarily say that Rossi is the best in the wet just because he may have beaten renowned 'rain masters' the likes of Vermuelen and West as there are times when Vermuelen at least has beaten Rossi in wet conditions.

No, I would not say he is the best (don't really know who is either).

But, to be a champion you must learn to ride in all types of conditions and Rossi is a champion (not alone either) so he is adept in wet conditions and with sheer ability and talent he is as one woudl expect, one of the better riders.

I agree with you on that one. It's hard say anything decisive about "the Best". A place where Rossi often shine is when the conditions change. Rain starting og track drying up. He seems to be very good at finding the grip level and it's been quite a few races where he found seconds a lap from the competition. But even there I don't know if I would anounce him as the best.
