interesting, thanks for that

Don't know, maybe it was just me but it came across to me twice that Rossie does not rate Hayden as a competitor.

1. His comment that last year was unlucky but this year they were beaten by a faster bike.

2. His comments that he believes that on equal tyres he would have been competing with Stoner and Pedrosa.

Just found his lack of mention interesting (leaving aside my own opinions) and I am not accusing Rossi of 'Hayden Hating' either.

All up I did find it an interesting interview although nothing really out of the ordinary.

Thanks for the link.

Good link Son of...! I enjoyed that interview, Rossi is pretty candid all the way through it and to Beattie's credit, he's asking all the right questions and Rossi elaborates at some length. As for the Ducati question, I had to laugh. What else is he going to say?

though I don't think it will ever happen, he poo-pooed the Bologna factory pretty hard in his biog and they have Stoner until 2010.

Gosh! Did we read the same book? I don't recall any poo-pooing. In none of the several times I read it.

I think we did bikergirl. Rossi dissed the Ducati racing philosophy stating that in his opinion it was the same as HRC's, that the bike was he main factor in success or failure, not the rider. Rossi cited that as the prinicipal reason he didn't and wouldn't consider an offer to ride for them and also why he wanted to leave Honda, leading to his choice to ride for Yamaha. BTW, you managed to read it several times??

it's so badly written that once was hard enough work for me but I got the gist of Rossi's opinion of Ducati, guess he's changed his mind

Yeah the English version is atrocious but it's better in Italian!

And yes I agree with the motivations you described, I described them at length in a post somewhere for someone last week. But he specifically said that at the time he was looking for a challenge to prove the rider made the difference, and Ducati was not right for him specifically because to them it was about the bike. I don't call that poo-pooing. Poo-pooing would have been saying the bike was crap, the people were crap and he would never dream of joining them. What he did say was it was not the challenge he was looking for at that time. He was on the best of terms with them and their not joining them didn't change that.
