Rossi back to Honda in 2011?

VISORDOWN

IN A RECENT interview with French mag Motorevue, the vice president of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has said the company has not ruled out the possibility of securing former employee Valentino Rossi for a second stint in their MotoGP team.

"Maybe yes, maybe no ... Nothing is impossible," said Shuhei Nakamoto, when asked if Honda were interested in Rossi, whose contract with Yamaha expires at the end of the 2010 season.

The nine-time motorcycle world champion left Honda for the Yamaha MotoGP squad in 2005. The move didn't go down well with the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer, who said they would do all in their power to crush Rossi's betrayal.

Since the Italian's defection, Honda have won only one MotoGP title, when Nicky Hayden secured the 2006 Championship at Valencia, after Rossi fell from his Yamaha M1 early in the race.

Earlier this week, at a press conference in Italy, Ducati's MotoGP team boss said they were also interested in securing Rossi from 2010.

Exciting times, eh? But somehow we can't see Rossi going back to Honda.

HONDA 2011 ?? maybe if this (BELOW) was to happen the summer break in 2010 could become a very silly season time. lots of ppl out of contract end of 2010

Ezpeleta open to early 1000cc move

By Dieter Rencken and Matt Beer Thursday, January 14th 2010, 11:01 GMT

MotoGP commercial rights holder Carmelo Ezpeleta is open to the possibility of bringing the 1000cc switch forward to 2011 - but believes the originally planned 2012 regulation change remains more likely.

The FIM, motorcycling's governing body, announced last month that MotoGP would switch from its current 800cc engine package to 1000cc engines with a maximum of four cylinders from 2012.

Did a Honda representative actually say this when Rossi made the switch?

I know it was taken for granted that HRC would fight hard to make Rossi regret leaving, but actually saying that...wow

Did it happen?

The official statement went something like they were going to build a bike to destroy Rossi and Yamaha, not appreciating that this philosophy was precisely why he left. Although Nicky eventually did a great job on the '06 evo machine, whilst Honda did their best to sabotage his title bid, they then built the dismal 'Pedrocycle'

. - which would have struggled to crush a grape. Agree with Motrix, Valentino will NEVER return to HRC.
