On crash.net there is an article about Gresini commemorating the 3rd anniversary of Katos death- a good read.

this is a link to a picture which says a thousand words.

Everytime i think about the whole Kato thing, the one thing i always come to a conclusion about is that...
...it just really sucks to think that he might have been Japans first premiere class world champ, and japans best ever racer. sucks bigtime
<

Rest in Peace Daijiro, big respects to his family.

Indeed mate, but as they say most legends or legends to be die prematurely...

Nice to see you Ron, I thought that you have deserted us

I have nothing to add. I wasn't really a MotoGP fan when he died, but of course have heard of him.
Daijiro Kato, RIP.

Indeed, RIP.

I remember watching that race..............not good...........not good at all.

p.s. nice to see ya Ron mate!

i remember it like it was yesterday
<
it was a painful experience, almost like somebody i knew had passed. that sinking feeling

RIP dajiro....... welcome back ron

i remember watching the race too ..... not one im going to forget.

i found this quote by the trackside doctor, its quite comforting in a way. We used it in a memorialat a funeral for one of my friends, Jess, that died just about this time last year.

"memories are nostalgia,

they are the return of the past;

Remembering means giving a place in history to men and things,

stopping them from falling into oblivion,

making them eternal in real life."

-Dr Costa

Dajiro died doing what he loved. That is an important thing to remember.
R.I.P. Dajiro and Jess

His popularity here exceeds that of Rossi, or even the MotoGP itself. You could ask someone who VR is, or what the motoGP is, and they`d have no idea, but ask them who Daijiro Kato is and they'll tell you he's their countries greatest motorcycle race, ever.
Watakushitachi wa itsumo anata o wasuremasen, Kato-sama.
