I've just finished Rick Broadbent's 2009 Publication 'Ring of Fire, the Inside Story of Moto GP'. I have to say I couldn't put it down, great read.

Excellent insight into events that have happened Post 2000 up to season end 2008 in and around the paddock, the rolling of Biaggi's smart car at Mugello 04 by Hopper and Shakey then subsequently joined by VR and most of the rest of grid to continue the defamation of it was one of the highlights. Funny stories like Nicky's shower in the dark in a KL Hotel and VR's late night escapades before race day.

Rick combines this with a great account of Mike the bikes Isle of Man TT comeback in 1978 and his history with Ago and other greats.

One downside is Rick does tend to favor all things British, with over expansive accounts on riders like Toseland, Smith, Chaz Davies and Webb, which could have been evened out with some of the other riders from different countries who have supplied far more interest and results, but overall excellent insider coverage of the Mind games and rivalries of MotoGP.

I always thought that Kurtis Roberts was behind that. I know in 06 he jumped on a police bike half cut, and rode it around the paddock sirens blaring - I thought it was part of the same incident. Thinking about it, it couldn't have been, because apparently it was Max's 'Camel' Smart Car, which was used by one of his personal aides.

Thanks for the recommendation Talpa, I must get hold of a copy asap!

I've been jonesing for a new book it sounds like the fix I need. I've never heard of this book before.
Lemme see if I can beat Austin to Amazon.

Time for me to break down and finally get a Kindle.

My wife got the Michael Scott 60 years of motogp for me for Xmas. It is about 18 months out of date and was on the specials pile but still a bloody good read and very balanced. Good pics as well.

I don't mind Brit riders, after all Barry Sheene just lived up the road from me after he saw the light (like about 1 million other poms) and moved here...
