Every time i see a DVD of an american stunt crew, most of the time i see them doing it in jeans an shirt! I just dont get it! dont get me wrong guys: i ride WAY too fast too, but when i do, i wear full safety gear. leather, boots, helmet, gloves...

im from germany and u MUST wear a helmet here, but the rest is your personal business. A lot of people have a permittance to ride without helmet. u can get it from a doctor (no, not nr. 46 ;-)=
I have one too and if i ride to the open-air pool going 15 mph, i wear no helmet and wear shirt / jeans...but with my eyes wide open!

how bout U? is it true what we germans see on TV!? that in many spots in the world the guys ride with only shirt / without helmet!? how bout USA? italy??? they say U ride like u want to! LOL
In germany most bikers cant understand how one rides without safetygear and im one of them (if im not only going 500 metres and with VERY low speed). once I went the 500 metres to the pool without helmet and i got a midfinger for it....thats germany....hows it in your country? how do you handle it!

and dont forget to vote (hope it works)...

I can't see the sense in not wearing a helmet. Its like --doing a bungee jump without a rope, or a parachute jump with no cord.

Only a 125 so just jeans, sometimes boots though.

A crash at 75mph will hurt no matter what you ride

I know, but with leathers on I'd be lucky to get to 75 - so its catch 22.
The only time id be going +75 is a road like the a14 - straight, clear and flat.

if i had "only" a 125 id wear jeans only too, but u have to know that 20 mph is enough to seriously get hurt by slipping over the ground!!! always ride with that in mind!!!

Hahahahahaha what a .....

Sorry.

I have a pair of riders jeans (They begin with A, slipped my mind).

Usually I only ride as a commute. I see dudes on R1s without protective gear - that annoys me. Usually only tshirts shorts etc.

Of course I know theres a risk of it ripping the jeans and friction burn etc.

But I dont want to get kitted on a daily commute where I'm not going to speed etc.

Thank christ its not me but over the years me and the tarmac have been regular acquaintance. If I was riding a 125 I would also wear jeans but I would have no problem forking out £140 for a pair with kevelar in them. I'm not rich but I value my health

That was nasty the poor girl was a wreck

Yea, I agree, especially for longer journeys.

Alpinestar?

Jeans with Kevlar is the way to go, check the link I posted

If other people do not value their health (and think the are saving money untill they get the doctors bill) thats their loss

Speed is not a major factor as Passi said you can get ...... up doing 20mph. What was that Irish road racers(A racer with the best of safety gear) name that died in 2007? When he was crawling round a corner his engine siezed and spat him off, as bad luck would have it he went straight into a lamp post and died of his injuries

Sorry, not a, r - its Richa.

And Dunlop crashed at TT on a 250 in just shorts and tshirs at 120 and walked away without a scratch.

Luck can go both ways, but I'd rather not test it.

here comes sth i can hardly explain with my bad english but ill try:

there was a test on german TV once! they sat two people behind one another in a thing that looked like the cockpit of an F16 or some fighter. then the got seatbelts on and the thing made of steel they sat on (like a sledge) ran down in a tube that was really short. at the end of the tube the sledge came to an apprupt stop.

then u saw that in slo-mo. the guys in the sledge were asked what they thought how fast this was. one said 20 miles (app. 30 km/h) the other said: no! WAY faster! the spectators said: way faster as they saw the slo mo and how they were pulled into the belts really hard.

it were 9 km/h (6 mls/h)!!!!!!!

speed kills!

run against a wall with 5 mph! OUCH!

the biggest problem is, that even if u wear safety-cl:

on racetrack the guys go down and slip and slide a long WAY without hittn sth.! on the road u hit a tree or.....ah....only know the german word...."Leitplanke".

if this happens.....20 mls are a LOT!

Leitplanke = fence (safety barrier) etc.

Very true, but you hit a tree - jeans or leathers.. you will suffer damage.

Have you got a link. 120mph and not a scratch. I find that very hard to believe
