<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Mick D @ Mar 2 2010, 12:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Honda seems to be making the right moves in putting the ..... years behind and preparing for the future... yet I don't have an incredible amount of faith in them... let's see how Dovi and Dani are doing at summer break!

Well the first 'Big' step is that Dovisiozo gets an input now!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (basspete @ Mar 2 2010, 12:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Could make for an interesting season. HRC has thrown it's weight behind Dani for a few seasons and he's not delivered the goods. Not what they are used to at all. Hardly surprising they are losing patience with him. Pedrosa is a master of the fast laps, but he's not a "racer." He's not going to lift the title if he can't start overtaking and mixing it with Stoner, Rossi and Lorenzo. End of.

Be interesting to see how he goes if the focus has shifted to Dovi.

Honda probably do want Stoner for 2011, but I think the focus now has to be to get the title back as soon as, and if Dovi has the better chance then it's natural they will give him the goods.

I just can't see HRC keeping on making mistakes like losing Rossi and keeping putting their faith in Pedrosa.

Pete

Problem has been Spanish Sponsors 'Big' pressure… If this keeps up Lorenzo is in line here. But you make a good point as usual Pete.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BarryMachine @ Mar 2 2010, 12:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I was more thinking if Stoner went Honda, then it would not be Pedrosa who goes, Unless Dovi beats him this year.

Repsol - Spanish ( need a Spanish rider )

But they've had their best years with an Aussie as well,

And as everyone knows Stoner is the next Doohan

After Rossi leaves!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (michaelm @ Mar 2 2010, 12:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Honda are on record as saying they would like rossi or stoner, although this was last year before stoner's problems. If he appears to be robust in the early part of this season I would think they will still be keen.

But Rossi is not that interested in Honda, it could change if the whole Team does, which is a bit too much by now I think. Rossi has stated that he cares a lot for Burgess' input, which is great on his part.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mylexicon @ Mar 2 2010, 01:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Nothing to say about Honda and their miserable lack of progress over the last several seasons. They showed up to a GP race with a supersport bike in 2007, they've been in a tailspin since then.

As far as Dovi's vs. Pedrosa's development input, I'd sooner trust Dovi. Honda have never come close to winning anything in the Pedrosa era. Even the HRC-Hayden trainwreck (known as the Evo) was better suited for GP competition than any rendition of Pedrosa's RC212V. Granted, Honda rarely listen to the riders so Pedrosa can't be blamed entirely.

I used to care about the silly season, but how many times have we gotten our hopes up for nothing? With the exception of Lorenzo, almost all major deals over the last 2 seasons have been a disappointment. If anything, I'm more interested in what direction the bikes will take. I'd like to know whether Honda plan to stick with the 800cc RC212V or try something new. In a perfect world, they would do both. I also want to know if the engine rules will produce a better show.

Amen to this brother!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (basspete @ Mar 2 2010, 02:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Stoner the next Doohan?

Lets see.....

Fast? Undoubtedly.

Grumpy Aussie? Oh hell yeah!

You could be on to something here, remember Doohan's outbursts when Criville used him as a tow truck? Not unlike Casey's toys, pram incident at Laguna Seca really was it.

But, did Mick fall off when he looked back and saw someone catching him up? Mick was mentally unbeatable latterly, and for a guy whose ankle was set so it fitted his footrest that was awesome. Personally I think Stoner lets Rossi get under his skin, and that doesn't do him any favours. When someone got under Mick's skin it pissed him off and made him faster. Folks getting too close? get a bike thats harder to ride, (the Screamer) then take another title on it when your No 2 reverts to the Big Bang after binning the Screamer during testing.

I'd like to see Casey on a Honda to see what he can make of it, just as it would be interesting to see Rossi or Lorenzo on the Duke.

Pete

And Doohan would ride the firkin Bike a week after severe accidents no matter what, Stoner had a tummy ache and took 'Three' months off. Not as Doohan precisely, this would be putting Doohan low.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BarryMachine @ Mar 2 2010, 03:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>um he may have once or twice.

Ok there's only a few years to go so far but Stoners early years in MGP have surpassed Doohans

And I dread to think how Doohan would have reacted had Criville ridden like a wally, like Rossi's 08 corkscrew mistake.

A mistake that gave Rossi yet another win!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (cygnus88 @ Mar 2 2010, 03:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>casey on honda =will be like the old times 2006

Could very likely be! No one guaranties anything different.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ptk50 @ Mar 2 2010, 08:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>How about the moaner & the groaner - Lorenzo & Stoner at Repsol - Rossi on the Duc and Spies on the Yam - that would be very interesting - hasrdly likely - but I can hope

First one sound good to me, second one I think Rossi and Spies on Yamaha will stick. Who knows about Spies, but Yamaha may lose Lorenzo to Repsol.

It'll be interesting to see where the bikes go in terms of development throughout the season. They've looked miserable this winter even with both riders healthy, which has been their main problem in winters past. Poor form from Honda in a big way.

I've no doubt they'll throw as much money as they can at Lorenzo, Rossi and Stoner. I think it comes down to Stoner and Lorenzo though. Marlboro clearly don't see eye to eye with Stoner, and what's he to say when Honda are offering head and shoulders more than Marlboro are willing to stump up. It'll come down to how strong his relationship with Ducati really is. If it's as much of a family as they lead on, then I think he takes less money and stays on. In which case, Lorenzo takes the cash and the seat.

And it will be Pedrosa as the one on the move for 2011, not Dovi. Dovi is signed up through the 2011 season.

Is it Stoner's Ego or Red Boppers' speaking?

V, My comments were the opposite of your reaction. I was referring to this being a thread about Honda, Dani and Dovi so why make it about Stoner and Ducati. I hate that every thread turns into a love and hate feast for Rossi or Stoner. Thankfully this one has swung back on track.

My last comment about Stoner being ....... awesome was totally sarcastic. He is, but in the context it was totally sarcastic.

You should try understanding comments first before jumping to conclusions.

I am totally out of the defending Stoner business. There is no point. End of!

Lorenzo is the HRC answer.

BTW, F Honda, their struggles are simply Karma.

Most definitely… Spanish Rider = Repsol Happy & Dorna Happy, Fast Ridder = Honda Happy, Development Rights & #1 Rider = Lorenzo Happy… (Still won’t beat Rossi though!). Anyhow, Dovizioso could be the ‘Edwards’ developer & tester for Honda with fifths, fourths and a couple of Podiums plus a win now and then, for some years to come.

well i think that as long as stoner keeps the red bike at the front that marlboro will have little say in stoners future with the team so i see him at ducati for some time. besides don't all tobacco, marlboro being the last, sponsorships come to an end at the end of this season?

now as far as the repsol thing goes i'm hopin that they are moving away from pocket bike production to normal sized bikes and lorenzo is the answer for repsol part. but the honda $ may lure rossi back, doubtful tho it is, or maybe stoner to prove a point as well or perhaps even spies if he has as good a season as he did last 1 out. .... it's way way waaaaay to early for this!

I heard a rumor that the 2011 Yamaha bike is going to be made with a special
new ultra-light carbon fiber frame and that Yamaha is hiring Pedrosa to ride pillion
on Rossi's bike so they can meet the minimum weight requirements.

Oh... and because Puig is one big anal cavity - he's going to be renting his colon out
as a tire warmer.
