Lorenzo was in q2 from the free practice.
So he was.
I'm just so used to folk on here taking the piss about his lack of pace.
I'm not even a fan of the guy but a decent qualifying from him and I hope he transfers it to race pace. Just to silence a few critics.

And for the record, Marquez should probably be sent back a row or 2 even just to send a message. Hopefully he has learned from a fortnight ago as he certainly has the pace to win it from anywhere on the grid. As long as he doesn't try to win in the first 2 laps.
I'm beginning to think the influence of Puig is coming out a Repsol. I'd love Suppo to be coaxed out of retirement but can't see it.

Oh god, it's the yellow horde attacking Marquez. How boring. I thought MM moved off track as soon as possible for VM. Big pile of nothing to me.

I continue to be a big Zarco fan. I hope he beats both factory Yamahas this weekend. Iannnone is really riding smoothly. Very impressive changes from him. Suzuki is improving substantially, I think. Of course, everything is so tight with the current rules that small changes can look like big differences, when the difference is miniscule.
Agree with the 2nd half but I sensed something coming from a few corners earlier. Perhaps it was paying too much attention to what was going on ahead of him but Marquez seemed totally oblivious to behind him.
Credit to Vinales though in his interview with Emmett on BT. Said he was angry but moved on quickly to talk about he positives and didn't make a big thing of it.

I am still on the Zarco train, but I think he was a bit disrespectful when he said adding Mamola to the hall of fame cheapens the value of the same.

How can you make a legendary save and not be a legend?

Warmer track temperature tomorrow will likely preclude the use of the soft for many and favour Márquez.

Having visited the inaugural race, I've grown to loath this circuit. I understand that it's built for cars but how did Tilke get it so right at Istanbul Park (with the exception of the final turn) and produce this level of stop/start fuckanery in the final quarter? The first turn is horrendous too. Not conducive to close racing.

You want to design a new circuit? - simply pore over the blueprints for Monza, Mugello, Hockenheim and Philip Island.

Is this what is holding up progress on the Circuit of Wales, whilst the powers that be choose which blueprints to go with?? Won't be long now.:wacko:

And by the way, "fuckanery"??
If ever a word deserves to be added to the Oxford English it's this one.

I think the ride of the event so far has got to be Pedrosa. The man broke his wrist days ago, went under the knife days ago. 20 turns per lap of piercing pain is not just the issue, but the strength needed to pull it off. There are some brutal corners to, 200mph to 40, insane. Big ups to the wee man.

I'm glad that Yamaha had a 25 and not a 46, Marc would have been hung before he reached parc ferme. Nice to see Viñalez not acting like a petulant .... and accepting a conciliatory Marquez. I can only imagine if that had been Rossi, oh god, worse, i can see Uccio thrashing about now.

For the record, I don't think it's reasonable for riders to dowl on the race line, especially during qual (or Rossi during a race 4 secs slower). It really is dangerous, and unacceptable at this level. Unfortunately, it's a rather common affair, hell look at Q1, not that anybody's pitchforks are out for that. I'm amused at the corner Race Direction have painted themselves into, especially with the Canet no penalty, I mean by that precedent what on Dog's green earth deserves penalty? (I know the answer). Anyway, for the record, I think the only way they can get out of this stupid inconsistent situation is to say, starting next event, anybody dowling on race line will be penalized 5 grid positions at minimum.

Dovi's championship hopes are quickly fizzling. Zarco out qualifying the Proctologist...again. Though I doubt his race pace is there. Good on Iannone to make hiring Lorenzo a slightly more complicated proposition. Jack Miller, wait what happened?

Espargaro brought up an interesting point about flags available to the track marshals, wouldn't it be reasonable in the interest of "safety" to wave a blue flag at Rossi? That really could have been helpful at Argentina.

If you live in a glass house don't throw rocks.

I just hope he gets on something he can ride next year. I have no great love for Lorenzo as a person per se, He's a great talent who gave us some thrilling races. It's a shame that he doomed himself to two years of ignominy. I don't see much reason to dump on him. The price he's paid for his hubris has been a huge one.

93 will start from p4 tomorrow, 3 place penalty for riding slowly on the racing line.
In moto 3 it's a 12 place penalty for the same thing!

Marquez has zero respect for anyone else on the track.

I don't understand this sentiment.

Who cares if they respect each other. They certainly don't care. It's a ....... deathsport out there. Well, that might be over-stating it a bit.

Any sport is like this. 16 year old hockey players hate every player on the other team and wish they were dead. GP racing is no where near this bad but let's not try and specify how they must think out there. just set behaviour rules and enforce them equally.

Not going to do that then you accept the predictable consequences.

Dorna has their 'golden goose' way of running the sport, that is undeniable, and they are trying to walk the line between tragedy (death of rider) and maximum profit. They have chosen this, not had it happen to them.

They've chosen profit.

(Two beers in)

You still in Argentina mate?
This event is at COTA.
Pay attention!

Actually you should pay attention since it flew right over your head.

Penalties are not the same across the board for classes. Surprised you haven't figured that out by now.

Maybe you sniffed too much glue as a child.
The new harsher penalties were agreed upon yesterday.

I know Crafar is knowledgeable, wasn't he an ohlins tech after finishing racing? But when he interviews people I can't help but think of 'Korg' from 'Thor Ragnarok.'

Didn't he also suffer a significant brain or head injury when knocked from a pushbike in training a few years back.

IMO only, but head knocks can take many a year from which to recover, if you ever do and you may well not realise that your recovery is not complete

Cruising on the racing line.
Just racing, folks. Nothing to see here.

Correct me, but was it not said after Argentina that 'it was the overtaking riders responsibility' :p

Just playing with ya as that was not your comment

But on a serious side, if they do not punish Canet ................ .... will continue to happen during practice that should not occur

Paying attention goes hand in hand with respect.

Courtesy for others.

He is not the first, nor the second, nor the third and will not be the last.

IMO here but penalties for this offence need to accumulate (across their racing lifetime but reset ever few years) ........ ie. first offence = x, 2nd offence = 2x, third offence 3x where x has to be significant.
