RD4: AMA Road America, WI

Damn, is that this week?
<
<

Looks like DSB might provide the only decent racing this weekend. Superbike and Supersport are blowouts right now.

Dang, not a good outing. Something is def wrong.LINK FP1

Hopefully they get it all sorted. If he can show up at Miller and go quick, he should be able to show up at Road America and do the same. Although, perhaps Road America is displaying the disparity in horsepower between the Honda and the rest as it's not a mile high and sapping power from everyone?

Benny struggled all weekend, and the race1 was no different. 5th, not bad but the winner Gaviria will stretch points even more. Something was off. He may have experience some discomfort from last week's crash, or some other problem. I don't know yet, but I'm not about to ask until they tell me.

Congrats to Gaviria. Looks like Puerta and Mesa had some issue.

Lets hope for better luck in race 2!

There's a points scheme? I always thought it was similar to how Michael Scott was judging his potential replacements in The Office.

Michael Scott: Ugh... who's ahead in points?

Pam Beesly: Well, I think they're even. At various times you gave Jim 10 points, Dwight a gold star, and Stanley a thumbs up. And I don't really know how to compare those to...

Michael Scott: Check to see if there's a conversion chart.

Pam Beesly: ...I really doubt it Michael.

Michael Scott: Please just check.

DSB and SBK have been blown wide open. Young and Hayes tied even though 4 wins to 1 win and no DNF's by Young. Stupid bonus points.

DiSalvo binned it which means the Jason DiSalvo is kind of like the old Jason DiSalvo. Somehow Herrin has crept back into the picture, while Cory West scores solid finishes but gets very little love from the camera. Sad b/c he is probably the most exciting rider in the class. I will never forget the pass at Road Atlanta.

I agree. I like the kid but for some reason they dont pay him much mind. I'll never forget what he said on the podium at Daytona. When they asked him how he felt after getting second he grabbed the mic and said" are you kidding me? I just got 2nd place in the Daytona friggin 200, The Daytona Friggin 200!!"

He clearly realized the moment and wasnt lamenting about how he could have done better.

Few people in life attain moments like this and it was a great thing to see

You're stuck in politics mode.

Also wanted to say that I hope Baubier gets an engine tuner. I didn't expect him to amount to much when I watched him on the Rockwall in SS last year, but he has shown flashes of brilliance this season and a lot of pace. I think things are looking up for the AMA talent pool. If DMG can solve the problem they promised to solve (more competitive bikes in SBK), the top 3-4 guys in DSB could develop their skills further in SBK.

DSB & SBK were fun races to watch. I just saw Race 2 SS. Now I see what happened, Gaviria crashed taking out Benny. Just bad luck.

Esclick had won race 2 but got killed on power.

Nice action in the 2 DSB races. Herrin has managed to keep it clean while running 6 deep so maybe there's hope for him yet. I've never found him to be a particularly smart rider, rather one that seems to constantly react to his surroundings. He doesn't seem to manage races. I would think that with his experience in that class and the great package he is on that he would not be winning races on the final straight.

It was great to see all the youngsters running so well. Let's hope this trend continues

That track makes it hard for a break away, if you eek out 2-3/10ths, the super long straights allow the followers to draft right back up to your rear wheel. The next track, Barber, you might see someone have a 2-3 second win. I thought Herrin was very calculating this past weekend, hanging around till a lap or 2 to go and put himself in position to win. once using a backmarker for separation, and perfect utilization of the draft in the other. The one thing that stands out as a negative with Herrins riding is his penchant for running much wider lines than the other riders. He is frequently out in the area where you are starting to run out of the line..It does help him keep up momentum, but he sure does get stuffed up the inside a lot from the late braker's like Westby and Eslick.

Of course, CK. It's been a favorite of mine since it started. I was actually saddened to watch Michael Scott walk away.
