Thursday, May 28, 2009
The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix pre-race activities are as follows:

SuperKart Exhibition
Thursday, July 2nd in the afternoon, probably 3:30 p.m. Yamaha world champions take to the race track for a SuperKart exhibition.
Wayne Rainey
Eddie Lawson
Kenny Roberts Sr.
Valentino Rossi

HOLY ....! The only one missing is Kevin Schwantz (who was probably left out for being "over-rated"). Sucks that he was on a Suzuki, or he may have rounded off a group featuring the greatest of all times.

OK, WHO WANTS TO COME TO LAGUNA NOW???

(Yeah, Wil, I know, salt on the wound).

I'd love to go to Laguna and maybe one year I will. When I'm there I'd hope to be able to say hello to Kevin Schwantz more than Rossi. My dream is to take his course and actually do a lap with him.

Wishful thinking

But yeh that would be insane

Lawson and Rainey are just as talented in a kart as they are on a bike, in Lawson's case, I think he is even more talented. Both having amassed many kart wins and titles in their time since leaving the bikes.

Rossi ran some kart races in his youth before choosing bikes.

Not sure about King Kenny.

Whatever the case, this will be a big race of talent and personalities.

Jumkie, who do you pick to win?

IMO, it's between Lawson and Rainey.

I'm pretty sure they won't be 'racing' in these Superkarts. Superkarts are no joke.... they can go upwards of over 170mph depending on gearing. I remember David Coutlhard saying something about how those karts scared the .... out of him.

Toss up between Lawson and Rainey. Rossi, the young whipper-snapper to podium. But its gonna be a doozy!

I live fairly close to Toronto Ontario in Canada. Every summer they have the "Molson Indy" and all the Indy cars do a major street race through the streets of TO (Toronto as we call it). They had karts at one race as a sort of entertainment spectacle and one of my foremen at the time went because he was nuts about karting. They were faster than the Indy cars at that circuit and the times were not published because of it. They are majorly fast.

If you knew who he was you would know he doesn't need anyone to let him win . you don't need legs in a cart and Wayne knows a thing or 2 about racing carts you turd.

who knows, maybe he will find the way how to choke in kart race as he choked in anderstorp 20 years ago and lost that championship.

Q: You’re into go karts. Are you just mucking around with them or are you doing any competitive races?

A: It’s funny you should ask that. We just tested at Laguna Seca (in California) on Monday and it’s the first time I’ve driven my karts since November, so I’ve been off a while but we actually have a race here September 6-7 and there are a couple of boys from Australia coming here and they beat me pretty easily, but they can’t quite get a hold of Eddie (Lawson, fellow former American multiple 500c world champion) yet, but I’m still doing that a bit. It’s a TZ250 and I can do a 1:26 (one minute 26 seconds) with my hand controls around Laguna Seca and I think they race 1:25, 1:26, so it’s been quite interesting for me to go back out there and not really compete against these other guys - there is a few guys that I can race with, but I think the biggest surprise for me is that I can challenge myself. I’m obviously not going to win, but I do enjoy putting my helmet on and going out there and trying to trying to go as fast as I can. It’s just fun, I try to have fun in the end. It can get very frustrating because obviously having no feeling from the chest down I always pick up what’s going on with the kart a little bit late, so mentally I’m always holding back because physically I just can’t pick it up soon enough, but I enjoy it at the end of the day.

Well if you think high siding a 500 is choking then doohan choked plenty of times. I doubt you were even dribbling down your mother legs back then so wtf do you know .

choking in the crucial moment of championship was raineys habit... no need to fabricate truth smartass.
