Silliy things these odds

I have to admit that you were brave to pick fiat boys as a one-two. I picked CS in my predictions and you could see why. Last night there was only one person who could really beat Stoner and that was Stoner himself and that what he did exactly.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. Smart money was on Stoner - but that's why it's called gambling...

After a long off season, it was great to start 2010 off with such a great race. Disappointed for Nicky, but it was great to see him up there fighting for a podium, looking like he can really stay with the front guys.
Well done to Randy too, I loved it when he passed Pedrosa! Impressed with Dovi & Spies too, and Lorenzo is as hard as nails!

I came back from a 15 day vacation driving from Madrid to Paris (and literally ‘roundabouts’!), barely can keep up with jetlag to see the race, and what do I get… The best result (and great race) I could have wished for: Go 46!

Sorry dude but I have to disagree. Many other things could have happened to stoner pushing the pace he was including fuel, tyres, engine and so on.

The smart money is on the smart rider who knows what pace to run to complete the race in front, these new rules change a lot across race distance.
Cs continues to demonstrate a resistence to learning from his mistakes, I'm sure the fiat boys are very happy that he is a very slow learner otherwise he would be a much bigger threat. The other thing to consider is his lack of participation in dogfights since laguna 08, we know the way he likes to win races. I actually hope he can get it right as the field looks very good and we could be in for some classics this year.

This reminds me of when dani fell off in Germany 08 whilst ahead by miles, too fast for the conditions. Others probably could have gone that pace too and suffered the same fate.....

That was the exact point i was trying to make, last night CS didn't have to do mid 1:55s, all he had to do flat 1:56's to win the race but no, the guy only knows one way to ride the bike which is 110% all the time but in his defense that style has served him pretty well so far. 18 wins in 800cc era especially against Rossi is not bad going, is it.

Mate he blew the start a bit and ended up 4th in the early stages. He then made clean passes on all 3 in front of him. That's dog fighting is it not? Or should he then allow the 3 back through so he can do it all over again to appease you? He wasn't clever I'll agree with that but the rest of your post is just utter tripe. Especially the part about you hoping he can get it right. You would be about the last guy on here hoping he gets it right.

Now on another note.

Vale - As always gets the job done. kept it on the black stuff & controlled the race as best he could in tough conditions engine & tyre wise.

Jorge - 2nd was a real bonus here considering his injury, gutsy ride.

Dovi - Giving Pedders the ..... no doubt. Showed his skills all weekend. The factory Honda's may be on the way up.

Nicky - Love your ride son, just gutted he didn't get on the dias. Definitely deserved it.
Certainly making terrific progress with the GP10.

Spies - Awesome race, especially considering his qualifying position. Podiums await at the very least this year.

Randy - good haul of points & showed up some of the more hyped Honda riders.

Roll on Motegi - It's good to have Motogp back

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (PASSI @ Apr 12 2010, 02:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Just imagine Stoner stays on bike and Rossi pushes hard to get him...

Rossi out of fuel in last lap then?

OMFG! This could be a big problem over the season!

Probably not. Traction in general was apparently an issue at
Qatar. The commentators were saying that when the riders
switched to the soft compounds - the sand blowing across
the track (sticking to the hot tires) was making the bike ride
like it was on marbles. At other tracks - less wheel spin - less
wheel spin - less fuel consumption.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pigeon @ Apr 12 2010, 03:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Valentino Rossi - Position: 1st - Time: 42'50.099

I ran out of fuel on the slow down lap, I think I used more than expected early on because I was sliding quite a lot, but it was very funny to come to Parc Ferme riding a scooter!"

so no engine prob as such..??????

By Toby Moody and Matt Beer
Rossi's Yamaha stopped on the slowing down lap after he had taken the chequered flag, but he believed that was a fuel issue rather than a late failure.

"I think I spun the wheels too much during the race so I used more fuel, and I think I finished my fuel on the end lap," he explained. "But it's like Mr Ferrari said, the perfect racecar is the car that breaks right after the line..."

The jury is out on this - at least until we hear from Lex.

Simply I do not consider Spies a rookie.

You're entitled to your opinion. How's it feel to be one in a million?
Unique no doubt.
<
For that matter I don't consider any of the
former 250 riders as genuine "rookies". They all have years, decades
even, of experience racing the the MGP circuit. A few wild card rides
for Spies hardly compares with years of coming up through the ranks
riding the 125s and 250s year after year at all the major tracks.

Rossi won Qatar with a scooter
<

His real bike wasn't a lot better than that scooter in comparence to other bikes.

Dovisiozo says he was riding with his heart, but imo he had the best bike in top 5. I think a few more good performances by him will give him a bit more self confidence that he can win these kind of races. if he had kept Hayden behind, then he could do to Rossi what he did to Hayden.

If races remain like this in next gp's, we will have the best season.
I go to watch the Eurosport version of Qatar now.

Get it right. The bike made the passes then stoner put the bike down.

Nothing that can be construed as an excuse from stoner by even the most vehement stoner hater (you know who you are) either.

It is still a long season, and stoner pre-race almost seemed superstitious about winning, but he can't afford too many more dnfs against rossi, although even he usually seems to have one obligatory dnf/low points finish per season.

So...had my DVR set to record all the racing on Sunday as I knew I wouldn't be back in time to watch, as it turns out I got home in time to watch the end of the MotoGP race but decided not to as I was recording and wanted to see the race from beiginning to end...big mistake. After watching the WSBK races (great races btw) I noticed when I started the MotoGP race my recorder had cut off the end of the race, I had my fingers crossed it would at least make it to the end of the race....didn't happen!!!!!! Last lap, watching Nicky...he passes Dovi....I jump up and yell "yes!"...then.....bam the recording stops...to which I scream "Noooo!" My 10 year old is laughing his ... off at his Dad's emotional outburst. Also know that my internet and home phone is down as well so I can't get on the internet to look at the results....so I called my wife from my cell who was working and got her to tell me the results of the race.

Great racing, I can only hope it stays like this all season.

Rossi: What can you say, did what needed to be done.
Lorenzo: Gutty performance and pretty much what I expected from him.
Dovi: Awesome race dude even though he passed Nicky at the line.
Hayden: Hell yea! gutted you missed the podium by .11 seconds.
Spies: Another hell yea! Interested to see how he progresses throughout the season.

Pedrosa: all I can say is Karma, don't count him out just yet though.
Stoner: damn I hate it for him, he has a big hole to dig out of, but if anyone can do it, it's him.

Not to get too fussy - but that's not actually a real word. Thought
you might want to know.

It's a Muslim country. Alcohol is illegal. Same reason you'll never see GIs drinking
openly in Iraq or Afghanistan.

you not got sky/freesat Bonnie ?..but you do need a Dish up and a old sky box or freesat box
to get it

you don't have to subscribe and the free satellite version of sky/freesat has like 6 streams on the red button compared to freeview's 2 streams so when there's any sports clash/ like yesterday golf/motogp

freeview will all ways get left out especially after the bbc drop 2 strerams from freeview this yr compared to last yr
