<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tom @ Apr 11 2010, 05:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Thats not a rumour, thats what happened. I read a quote somewhere from Lorenzo himself, he crashed on his first attempt to pass Checa who had just come past him. Jorge said he let his competative side out and he learnt a valuable lesson.
I hadn't heard that before today. Bummer he got hurt, but I think it's good for riders to indulge themselves in a little recreational racing.

Race result:Dang! In so many ways.Stoner could have eased off by ,5 sec from his maximum pace and still won. It's going to take a few days to get over all of those Ducati DNF.
Really good to see Hayden deserving 3rd by excellent riding on the other hand!
I'm sure there is more to come from him.

What is it with Ben Spies aka Bens Pies and the #11. He is using 11 as his race number. He qualified in 11th and today scored 11 points in the race

First time in history - the slowest bike won the race

Rossi trademark!

How was this possible?

The first time in history? Or your history? Since the wheel was invented talent has surpassed technology.

That aside, the pos hondas may have made big hp but it all has to work together. It didn't and it won't.

there was an interview with furuwasa a few days ago and he said that getting a more durable m1 wasnt an easy task.

Ben "Armistice" Spies

I would had loved to see what Spies would have done if he hadnt botched qualifying. He had the pace for a podium, if he hadnt spent half the race clearing guys he was quite faster than. But,that is why qualifying is so important. Gutted for Nicky. Stoner had this thing in the bag and tossed it away.

The one thing about this race that stands out to me is that 2-5 were in sight of the leader all race long.

Yeah, but i don't think that would have been the case had stoner kept it upright.

fantastic race!!!!! didn't mind getting up in an ungodly hour of 4am just to catch this one!!!

kudos to everyone!!! rossi of course because he won, and even though he was slower than those tailing him he managed well during the entire race and arrived at the chequered flag first. to dovi and hayden, superb superb showing from the two. i would have liked for nicky to get the final podium place but oh well, at least he put up a GREAT fight. jorge, oh wow, what a demon. i thought he wouldn't be able to catch up, glad he proved me wrong. though, what's with the shades man?! it's freaking night!

ROLL ON MOTEGI!!!!!!!!!

I just rewatched the race on tv, BBC2, and it was very different with what i saw on the live stream. It was a very nice race and promissing for 2010 championship.

A lot of over taking, in top 6,

Dovi,Hayden, Spies, will hopefully continue shining like this, and make this season a more exiting one.

Rossi had the easiest race among the top 5 riders. but he wasn't bad with a slow bike and under pressure.

I dont believe that he could scape from Dovi and Hayden before Hayden overtook Dovi with 5 laps to go, and that gave the chance to Valentino to build a 1.5 second gap.

just got back. man. wat a god damn fantastic race! loved it! so happy stoner didn't go for a forth or any point to be honest. rossi is the man with the plan
<
the crowd was unbelieveble. really happy spies came 5th
<
top 5 is what he should aim for this season. wished hayden got podium. over all im really happy the race was close from beginning to end. could not have asked for a better result.

now i sleep

more later

That's just it though.....cs was over the limit-again. Rookie mistake which looked highly similar to his offs in 06......

To finish first one must first finish

Pity the crash was off camera, commentators said the track was bone dry so none of the evening moisture that caused crashes before. He must have just ridden over the edge. Just so daft when your so far ahead. But then again ive heard racers say there more likely to crash when they ease off because they don't concentrate as much as when there pushing it.

Dont get me wrong, i am impressed with spies as i was only thinking of a top 10 for him. so to come 5th is impressive but not anywhere near as good as some of his fans were proclaiming his was going to be..
<

I don't anyone seriously thought Spies would do better than fifth or sixth. But you
know how it is - folks have high spirits and talk ..... I know I did.

couple of his passes were class and he looked comfortable on the bike. im sure he will podium several times this season.

He was running that pace all weekend.

Say what?

<
Uhmm -Dovi, Pedro and Casey early, Spies, DePuniet... all had BORING rides...
<

Sorry, I had watched the race on a live stream and it stoped a few times, so i had missed some actions, and after i watched it on tv, i got more exiting than the first time. It had to do with quality of that live feed and missing some minutes of it. Rossi's race looked a lot easier than what i saw on tv.

Stoner made a mistake because of his riding over the limit, it wasn't because of Rossi's pressure, but at that moment he wasn't too far in front ieder, so i think he thought he has to make a few seconds before giving any chance to Rossi to get closer to him and abset his rhythm.

I dont think at that moment he was thinking at crushing the opposition at all, that's when someone has at least a few seconds gap to his follower. imo he just didn't felt comfortable with 1 second gap . he made a fastest lap and he didn't have the time to check his real gap to Rossi before he crashed.

WOW! Great job Nicky!

I hope he is in this kind of fighting shape all season! I was afraid he would fade back to 6th or 7th, but it never happened! It was really encouraging to see him fight and even put an aggressive pass on Dovi on the last lap.
