<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>So how many other anti Valentino folks are going to crawl out of the carbon fibre?
Sport is about passion, fans are entitled to have their favourites. They are also allowed to 'hate' certain riders, based on their perceptions of the sportsman's personality.
Some folk worship Valentino, love his antics, and want to have his babies! Some, like me, have huge admiration for him. Some, like me, occassionally think his antics are a bit daft, sometimes a little disrespectfull. Then some folk 'hate' his antics, hate his pre planned celebrations and well practiced camera play, and think he needs knocking down a peg or two.
I guess it really depends on your own personality.
Previously, any critisism of Valentino on this forum has been met with a barrage of abuse and mockery, and those with a valid point to make have gone elsewhere for a serious discussion.
Well........it now looks like it's time to make your comments. TE has opened the virtual floodgates, Puresideways has followed him through. So what do you REALLY think of Valentino.
My opinion, for what it's worth? Well, I'm pretty open minded. I have huge respect for the guy, both as a racer and as a man. I sometimes think his antics are funny, sometimes a bit daft, and dependant on my mood I sometimes think he's arrogant. But I can also see what a clever business man Valentino is, pure genius. He has played the media circus, and made an awful lot of money. Most importantly, he has the talent to pull it off. I feel no matter what Valentino had done with his life, he would have been hugely successfull.
I don't love him! I don't hate him!
I do thank him for bringing Moto GP and motorcycle racing to the masses.
brilliant dave! this sez it all in a nice sized nut shell!
