Pedrosa deal to be announced in Germany?

Despite the frustration of going over one year without a win, Honda has hinted that Dani Pedrosa will be confirmed alongside Nicky Hayden for the 2008 season at the forthcoming German Grand Prix.

Reigning world champion Hayden signed a new two-year deal with the factory Repsol Honda Team towards the end of last season, but Pedrosa's initial two year contract expires at the end of this year.
Although it would be a major shock if Pedrosa left Honda, the former 125 and double 250cc world champion has openly stated that nothing should be automatically ruled out. However, this is seen more as a sign of Dani's growing frustration with the new RC212V than a sincere desire to leave.
"I understand the criticisms made by the riders because we have not won [an 800cc] race yet," said Satoru Horiike, managing director of HRC. "We have made an offer of renewal to Pedrosa, but have not yet had an answer. The new president of HRC, Masumi Hamane, will be in Germany [for the next grand prix] and we expect that some announcement can be made... We want Pedrosa to remain with the team."

Pedrosa is currently third in the Riders' World Championship, and the top Honda rider, but is already 66 points behind Casey Stoner. Ducati, Yamaha and Suzuki have all won at least one race so far this year.
Meanwhile, Horiike added that the satellite Honda teams, which have struggled most with the new RC212V, will receive much needed technical updates after the summer break.
