On another, perhaps more annoying note, Nieto still has a ride.. WHY!? Fcking politics .... me..

I wouldn't be so bothered by it. to replace him would probably mean hiring a slower rider, with less experience and less PR skills. I think for the lower budget teams it can make sense to go safe and get a known entity

125cc
1 - Gabor Talmacsi (Aspar Aprilia) - 1’47”907

Excuse me, shouldn't he be in 250 now?

No Gabor stays in 125cc. He has signed a 2 year contract with Aspar, so he'll be in 125cc in 2008 and 250cc in 2009 with official Aprilia bikes.

P. Nieto completely destroyed his teammate to the point he was fired because Nieto was qualifying 20 positions ahead and the new one didn't get close either IIRC. So IMO he's more than justified his presence with a private bike in 2008 with PERFORMANCE, can't say the same of others who got a green bike and couldn't beat their teammate even once.
<

Nieto has constantly been handed more than privateer rides (semi-factory, even factory bikes) simply because he's Spanish and he's never done anything with them, unless of course he was racing in Spain (see Valencia this year.)

He beat his teammate for once this year and this 'teammate' was a rookie! Wow, big achievement! He will continue to do .... and take up rides that could be ridden harder and more effectively by a young, eager talent who actually wants to be there and not placed their by his sponsors, what a joke..

It harsh of you to complain considering Westy did this for so long

You have got to be kidding me, don't you? West paid for his ...... privateer rides out of his own pocket, because no one would sponsor him..

Why do you think he was going to go home this year and took a chance at Yamaha WSS (where he actually received some pay)? Because the bank wanted their money back and Team "Mafia" Sicilia refused to pay him his wages, as they had previously agreed to do..

Don't even try to compare Ant to that hack Nieto, at least West was constantly the top privateer when he WAS aboard shoddy machinery, even beating several factory backed riders too.. Sheesh, get your facts straight before you go trying to make me look like a fool..

I was only tryining to make you think more fairly. I would expect someone who supported a mediocre performer for so long to appreciate that they do have a place for a reason and that they are all doing their best. At least people want nieto in the sport, he didn't have to buy his way in to make up for poor performance

It wasn't poor performace, it was constantly having poor machinery and teams at his disposal.. But, as i've said, it's all he could afford, even though Dorna saw something in him and did lend him a small amount of money every now and then..

I can't be bothered making excuses for Ant's "poor" (hard task master Tom) performances in 250cc (even though he made the most of his rare opportunities) and anyway, when he did get competetive machinery for the first time in a LONG while, he made Sofuoglu his ....., on a brand new bike and tyres and at brand new tracks..

He's in MotoGP now, where I believe he deserves to be and i think he'll do well next year, better than your man Lorenzo and better than your COUNTRYman Toseland.. So suck on that..

1. World supersport is clearly a lower level than GP, good riding but nothing to warrant factory Gp bikes.

2. Westy has done very well on the big bikes and has impressed me, but that doesn't mean i'm gonna pretend he was a good 250 rider

3. I remember Lorenzo was quicker than him in testing recently anyway.

I remember that West crashed with more than an hour to go on that day of testing and just about broke his arm, resulting in him being unable to test a qualifying tyre (like everyone else did) so his times were at race pace.. Pretty good times for race rubber actually...

Oh and you don't have to pretend he's a good 250cc rider, he definately is.. Australian champion at 250cc level and if you think back to 2000 he was 6th in the world in only his second year..

Then in 2003 he scored several podiums (in the wet and dry) as a privateer and ended up 7th in the championship and well and truely top of the shoddy machinery riders.. Think about this, when was the last time a 250cc privateer finished on the podium in the dry? Not often anyway..

Well like i said, Ant has been good on the big bikes, but not amazing and i would expect riders like dovi and Lorenzo to surpass him sooner or later.

I look forward to the spectacle

Im sure there will be some heated battles next year, especially with regards to Ant showing those riders (Lorenzo, DeAngelis) who have had such an advantage over him in the past, how well he can perform under the right circumstances..

You couldn't resist it could you?

1. He beat Sofuoglu at Silverstone in the pouring rain (who wins them?), and he won at a new circuit... I hardly call that making someone their '.....'.

2. And of course he'll do better than Toseland. Ant has been plodding around on GP bikes and the circuits for years, and he's on one of the best regarded packages out there. Of course he should do better.

Great to see the Pog back, a year out of the sport is a lot of time IMO lets hope the ex 125/250 champ does better than what he did at KTM.

Yeah, even though he was always my favorite enemy i am thrilled to see him back, i hope he can run fast and be top privateer.
