So I was watching Sportscenter and I saw the Daytona 500 highlights. Apparently a hole developed in the track surface in turn one. The race was stopped twice, once for as long as an hour and 40 minutes, to allow the track crew to repair the hole.
What was done about the hole in the track at Heartland Park last summer? They painted the area bright orange so the riders could see it...and ride around it.
I agree with nascar for taking time to fix the track today. It just annoys me that DMG didn't care enough to do so at HPT last year, for racers who lacked rollcages and hans devices to protect them. IIRC, the hole was there both days; it didn't develop in the middle of the race.
I'm not sure if HPT is an ISC track or not, so maybe it wasn't DMG's to fix. However, they were moving walls around all night Friday, they couldn't have patched the track surface up in that spot and let it set overnight?
