Hi Ben
I'm considering my comming strategy here and wonder about a few details.
How is the points for engine and tires calculated. Are all riders with an engine or tire brand with points calculated or is it limited in the same way as constructor points usually are limited to a maximum number of riders?

I'm not Ben but i can try and answer you.

To the best of my knowledge the tyres and engine are calculated by the addition of the points of that were awarded to the rider for each tyre brand or engine... .:. Qatar was as follows.

1. Casey Stoner Ducati AUS 25
2. Valentino Rossi Yamaha ITA 20
3. Daniel Pedrosa Honda ESP 16
4. John Hopkins Suzuki USA 13
5. Marco Melandri Honda ITA 11
6. Colin Edwards Yamaha USA 10
7. Chris Vermeulen Suzuki AUS 9
8. Nicky Hayden Honda USA 8
9. Alex Barros Ducati BRA 7
10. Shinya Nakano Honda JPN 6
11. Alex Hofmann Ducati GER 5
12. Olivier Jacque Kawasaki FRA 4
13. Kenny Roberts KR212V USA 3
14. Toni Elias Honda ESP 2
15. Sylvain Guintoli Yamaha FRA 1

.:. Tyres
1) Bridgestone = 25+13+11+9+7+5+4+2 =76
2) Michelin = 20+16+10+8+6+3 =63
3) Dunlop = 1 =1
etc for engines...

but thats if im right and if i even answered what you were asking... Allmighty Ben? am i wrong or right?

Thanks for answering, and I guess you are right as well.
This dawned on me a little late. Surly the engine choise can be very important if/when some of them are dominant.
