The Sports Consultancy and Capita Symonds have been appointed by the Isle of Man Government’s Department of Economic Development to conduct a feasibility study into the formation of an Isle of Man TT World Series.

The Isle of Man TT, widely regarded as the world's most famous motorcycle race, celebrated its centenary in 2007 and has enjoyed remarkable growth in the last five years in terms of both visitor numbers and increased revenues from commercial sponsors.

Based on this success and the increasing interest in the Isle of Man TT Races in international markets, as well as a growing number of leading international broadcasters who now feature the event, the Department has commissioned The Sports Consultancy and Capita Symonds to conduct a detailed feasibility study into the creation of a world series of affiliated TT Races events.

The Sports Consultancy won a competitive tender for the project that the agency will deliver with the support of partner agency Capita Symonds, which will work on the technical aspect of the study.

The work will start this month and will be completed by the end of March with an announcement on the study due at the 2012 TT Races.

Angus Buchanan co-founding Director of the agency said: "We are absolutely delighted to win this pitch and really excited to be working on a project relating to this amazing event. The study will combine our extensive experience of creating and commercialising sports events with our rapidly growing expertise in host city consultancy".

Mr Geoff Corkish, MBE, MHK, Member with designated responsibility for Tourism and Motorsport commented: “We are keen to capitalize on the growing worldwide interest in the Isle of Man TT Races, not only to explore potential new revenue streams but also as a platform for the Isle of Man to promote itself and its associated businesses and services. The Sports Consultancy are one of the UK’s leading and most successful consultancies at establishing international sports properties and we are confident that if the event is possible they will be able to establish a framework to move it forward.”
