Did you ever get pit paddock passes? I was wondering, as we will be attending our first MotoGP race at Indianapolis next year. Our seats have been assigned and I have a hotel room lined up (not my first or second choice...and I thought I had plenty of time) but we were told no paddock passes will be sold to the general public.

Do only hoity toities and Brad Pitt get paddock passes or is there some way for the rest of us to get one?

Getting into the paddock at motogp races:
1) you can buy the weekend VIP ticket off the motogp.com site (click on VIP village). This is the simplest and surest method to work. It is also ridiculously expensive. But you do get lunch thrown in. I'm not sure a paddock pass entitles you to entry to the pits. I think those are probably off limits, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

2) When it comes to Sepang, it's probably the cheapest gp to attend in terms of ticket pricing. Contact the circuit early on and see if you can fix it directly through them. We found them very accomodating. Costs less than vip village. Good chances of working.

3) If you're a pretty .... you can always charm your way in. Wear a short skirt and chat up one of the riders in 125 on the Thursday. They tend to get less attention and will be more flattered. Cost: Zero. Probablility of success: No guarantees.

Thanks for the info!

I know sepang has been and gone, but last year they opened up the pit lane for free on Saturday qual, dunno if this was coz it was rained off or what....but it was bloody busy!!

i know sepang has been a while (like ben said)... unfortunately we didn't get any pit passes. apparently they only sell them on the day of the quali itself... we arrived at the track at around 12 noon and they were already sold out.

.... but we still had a blast. (janey, finally saw her one and only... and she blushed. ryt-o janey? hehe)

at least next year we know what to do. stay in line early (starting on friday practice, just a joke) so we can get our hands on them pit passes. and of course the numbers, so we can get autographs too.

but thanks guys, for the advice....

Actually she asked him to autograph her tummy. The rest, as they say, is history...

I you get paddock passes, there might be a chance you get into a garage on the practice days/qualifying. If you hang around and are cheeky enough and lurk outside and ask you might get to go in one, but not on race day they are far too busy, but you'll have more chance with the lesser teams, no way in hell are you going to get into Rossi's garage or honda but on the other hand if you write to the teams before hand you might be able to arrange something. If you don't ask you don't get. Worth a shot if you really want to get in a garage and have no other way of doing it. But if you don't get into the paddock to be honest you are not missing much apart from the odd photo opportunity of a glance of a rider bezzing off for his dinner on a scooter, unless of course you get hospitality off one of the teams. To get into the garages you would probably normally need a grid walk pass and even then normally only for one team........lol like rocking horse .... they are.

Good luck.
