Seems after many of the riders (most notably Stoner as it is his home track) have been overtly critical of the track surface over the past few days, Linfox (the owners of the Phillip Island track) are planning for the circuit to be resurfaced over 2012.
"Linfox is committed to a continuing program of investment and upgrades to maintain Phillip Island Circuit as a venue that meets the highest international standards,"
"I'm confident that the outcome will be the smoothest and fastest race track on the MotoGP calendar."
The resurfacing plan was approved yesterday at a MotoGP Safety Commission meeting attended by leading MotoGP riders at Phillip Island for the Australian GP, Race Direction and Carmelo Ezpeleta, the CEO of Dorna Sports.
I found it interesting that at what is generally regarded by many observers as the best bike racing track on the calendar the owners have been proactive and responded positively to this criticism of the track conditions rather than deflecting it like we saw earlier at Indianapolis...
Criticism is something that obviously comes easy to Casey Stoner but many other riders also confirmed his impressions at both tracks so there must be some validity to his assertions.
Is it fair to air these grievences in an open forum or should the riders be making these comments behind closed doors so as to not offend some peoples sensibilities?
