Puzzling.

I like to see Melandri showing some promise, and Hayden running top Michelin bike

where are you rossi?!!!!!

I reckon it was them stupid hairy boots, I suspected they weren't aerodynamic, maybe a kangaroo jumped out and knocked him off, mistaking him for his mate. But seeing as he wasn't there then I suppose that can't have happened lol.

Yahama did not go to P.I., instead they have returned to Sepang.

Nice to see the Ducati in the top three. I really hope this is not Lori's last year. He is the youngest old guy on the grid.

alright barros! man it would be nice if he could be at the pointy end thru the season..... on the satelite duke no less!!!

weird..

the 'zooks were testing tyres, i think .... after all the issues they suffered at PI last year... they were only saved by the rain remember?

hopefully things will start to make more sense at the end of the test..... :S

I'm guessing the lower horsepower of the 800s shows more at the Island. It's probably the fastest circuit of the year.

The times are not that slow (1.5secs to best lap), are they?

Pole Position: Nicky HAYDEN 1'29.020 179.878 Km/h
Fastest Lap: Lap 4 Valentino ROSSI 1'30.917 176.125 Km/h
Circuit Record Lap: Marco MELANDRI 1'30.332 177.266 Km/h
Circuit Best Lap: Nicky HAYDEN 1'29.020 179.878 Km/h

Phillip Island MotoGP test times - Tuesday

1. Alex Barros BRA Pramac d'Antin MotoG (Br) 1min 30.60 secs
2. Marco Melandri ITA Gresini Honda (Br) 1min 30.70 secs
2. Loris Capirossi ITA Ducati Marlboro Team (Br) 1min 30.70 secs

11. Chris Vermeulen AUS Rizla Suzuki MotoGP (Br) 1min 32.00 secs
13. Shinya Nakano JPN Konica Minolta Honda (Mi) 1min 32.23 secs

I mean Barros' 1min 30.60 secs first day of practice is inside Rossi’s race fastest lap 1'30.917, of course, Hayden’s circuit best lap (’06 Pole Position) 1'29.020 is better, but then again they are newly prototypes to be developed, the 990cc had five years of development.

Doubt it.. Barros didnt do that much in WSBK remember..

Maybe it means Bayliss, given this years Duc could be topping time sheets aswell
<
Thats about how meaningless your comparison is..

That is what I mean… Barros did not do well WSBK, nor will Biaggi do, so…

Does this Barros’ stuff means Biaggi has a minor hope… crap and more crap!

I dont think Barros did so bad in superbike, considering it was his fist superbike experience, on many new tracks (or ones he hadn't seen for a while) and on a not especially hot Honda. I still think he should have done a little better, but overall it was a fairly strong effort.

If he'd have found his way to works Ducati for 07 i don't think he'd have been far behind Bayliss, and i reckon he'd beat him a good few times.
