Shame the runt will fail again in 2011. He truly doesn't have what it takes to be a champion. He will forever be a second tier rider.

I'd have agreed with you two years ago...

The little turd has been improving all aspects of his riding and is now, IMO, one of the top 5 pilots. I wouldn't begrudge him a title at this point.

I think he had (past tense!) a pretty good chance this year. From the first test it was clear that Stoner was always going to be faster, but Pedro was set to earn a solid #2, with a possible title if Casey had issues.

All he neeeds now is to ditch Darth Puig.

What do you mean? This is great news, you finally made a relevant thread. I may have to post something relevant myself today in honor of this glorious occasion.

Hahahaha. Hows the saying go, even a blind......

What is he missing? The ability to ride and win with multiple fractures?

I'm not seeing it. I think he has plenty enough of "what it takes" to win provided he can maintain his health. He's been removed from the challenge this season without fault. That's unfortunate for all involved but it hardly implies anything regarding his talent, determination and ability. In the last several years, what other rider has consistently competed through greater injury? Danny has more than accounted for any questions regarding his resolve. If only his health would cooperate...

Unfortunately it does not now look very likely that he will ever have a year unaffected by injury.

He is as tough as nails but just doesn't bounce.

Agreed, I think it's very unfortunate for him. Danny rarely speaks, instead he show's up every weekend and performs! I remember watching him at Indy in 08, crashing right in front of us (us being Jumkie, GatorDoc, CaliKid, and several other forum members). I watched as he struggled to pick up the bike. I wasn't a Pedrosa fan by any stretch at the time. I was somewhat embarrassed for him because he simply couldn't manage the weight of the bike by himself. I was relieved to see him finally get moving again.

Then lap after lap, he moved through the field to finish 10th (while posting the races fastest laps). I still think it's one the gutsiest performances in recent seasons, to which he receives little recognition. He certainly receives no quarter here in the US. Also something that I find a bit puerile after so many years...

Completely agree...I have definitely warmed to him over the past few years and he has certainly redeemed himself since taking out Nicky in 2006. He has also worked very hard to improve all apsects of his riding - witness his vast improvement in the wet and he is now, on his day, the top of the tree. He has unfortunately just been served up a rather large banquet of shitful luck over the years...even back in 250cc he had some nasty crashes and always seemed to do himself an ugly injury...two broken feet/ankles at Phillip Island springs to mind.

He is a quiet achiever and never complains...just gets on with it and I admire that characteristic in him immensely. Hopefully one day the dice will fall his way and he gets a well deserved title.

Haha, I still vividly remember Levi demanding I give Pedro props. He does have some redeeming qualities; I just am not captivated by any of them. Hehehehe...Levi, I have no problem disliking the guy. He’s done his fair share of talking crap and consent to the same by silence to the contrary. I’m not about to feel sorry for a guy who happens to get injured just for the sake of it either. I give him props for riding injured, but that’s about it. He’s the second most entitled guy that’s had it ALL his way in GP, he practically has an office at headquarters. And like the specially connected, it has been at the detriment and expense of others, I can hardly stomach that dynamic. About American sentiment, I’m not so sure it can be reduced in such a way, notwithstanding, I have no problem disliking him for what people think was a singular act of taking out Nicky. That attitude he displayed at that one moment was the exact respect given to Nicky for 3 years. I’ll add, I fail to see the logic in that because it happened so many years ago it is ok, and that Pedro now experiencing some injuries is somehow endearing. Have u read Simoncellis recent reflection and remorse? Do you believe he’s had a change of heart? Haha, geez, talk about contrived. I have yet to hear a genuine remorse & regret by Pedro. U know why? I’ll wait for the explanation…

Anyway, that’s not all he’s done and been a part of, so lets not reduce it to a lack of forgiveness for what some people still think was a singular mere "racing incident". If I were an easter religious man, I’d say he’s reaping a bit of Karma. And I don’t feel the least bit sorry for the MF.

Perhaps instead, I'll book you direct in coach to Tripoli, Lagos or some other garden spot...you've earned it with that post!

Jesus, imagine the grudge if Hayden hadn't won the WC?

"injured just for the sake of it" -- huh?

There are a lot of lower class winners floating round in motogp that have (and never will) make it to the championship there, I remember composing the list some years ago and of course it included (inter alio) Melandri (no longer there) caparossi, RDP, and so on and so forth.

Even the reintroduction of Elias this year has been embarrassing on two levels, firstly, GP racing (motogp) is it's own class and some people will not make it, and secondly the inability of Dorna to create an underclass that is a breeding ground for talent to rise to the top class. The apprenticeship doesn't work.

Pedro has (probably second to Rossi) had enough money thrown at him to win a world title on assistance alone, yet he has been the perennial bridesmaid, even when Hayden won the title (and many a fool has criticized that title) he was there on the same bike and didn't rise, he is destined to be the Mamola of MotoGP (without the personality).

He is great but just doesn't have enough of the x factor that makes a champion and Puig only makes him look bad, it's a shame for him but racing isn't charitable
