Actually in the post quali interview on motogp.com Shinya Nakano did say that Bridgestone brought very hard tires to Philip Island and he thought he could make something happen from 9th.

That isn't confirmation, but it's getting closer.

The hard compound Bridgestones are basically the 2007 spec according to the tire info released at the beginning of this year.

Another solid front row start for Nicky, well done. Hopefully he gets a podium and finishes ahead of Dani.

I really thought Nicky was going to get pole, but third is still pretty good.

And Casey's pole lap was great.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Goldwing @ Oct 4 2008, 11:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Don't worry about Rossi.
All those on the grid from 13 to last, have been instructed not to pass Rossi.
All those from 4 to 11 have been instructed to open a gap for Rossi to pass.
So there should still be a good battle amongst the top 3.
<

Maybe a few years ago it was possible to win from that position but now its gonna be extremely difficult even for someone of Rossi's ability!

I'm still expecting a podium finish, the Bridgestones will be good so he can pick off the michelin riders... hayden etc.

Stoner should have it easy unless Lorenzo can hang up there... and dictate the tempo.

I really hope so, looking forward to a Lorenzo vs Stoner.... Lorenzo fights harder than Pedrosa

That is not choking, he just ran off track at very high speed... no run off area and you don't want to be hitting the brake there.

It was one of those crashes you know its gonna happen, just try to minimize the damage which he did by slowing the bike down gradually and waiting for the trap.

Good for Stoner, this should give him a much needed feel good weekend.
Lorenzo is nails.
Excellent for Nicky, but the issue as usual will be those godforsaken tires (right babel?)

Oh yeah, THE JUNIOR SIDE OF RIZLA SUZUKI IS A JOKE. Hope GP and the young member can't even manage a top ten, sitting in 15th! And this at home! Hahaha, I will keep reminding people what a ....... joke Rizla Suzuki are for making such a lame choice in rider team for 09. Spies, in his three wild cards didn't even manage to embarrass himself with a 15th grid start.

Rizla Suzuki, joke of the MotoGP grid (and had an opportunity to better themselves but .... away the possibility. Anybody still think Hopkins move to Kawasaki was a sellout move? .... Suzuki!).

GO HAYDEN!

GO HAYDEN!

This is an excellent opportunity for Nicky to move into 6th in points and make some good headway towards 5th.The way this year has gone,5th would quite a lot of the critics,or not.Speaking of critics,Marco is not doing himself any favors by mailing in the last of the year,he is embarrassing himself with the total lack of effort.
But that is why im a Hayden fan.He might not be the best rider in the world but he is a fighter and never gives up,even for an ex employer .At one point this season,he was out of the top 10,i think most of his fans would be happy with a top 5 and giddy with anticipation for next year.

Yes... suddenly no pressure, and too much champagne in the past few days.

He better resumes his jogging and gym and healthy habits that have serverd him well this year...

Interesting then that during the race coverage they showed the following caption:
Stoner : Medium front; Medium rear.
Rossi.. : Medium front; Hard rear.

Given Rossi's starting position I think it made sense for him to go for a harder tyre as he had to have to battle through the field rather than just get into a rhythm at the front a la Stoner. But it does rather .... up your conspiracy theory that Stoner's been denied the harder "2007" tyre for most of the season.

I think you will find that that was Hayden, not Stoner, it was displayed when Rossi was doing a catchup on Hayden as they were talking about the loss of speed by Hayden in the last 1/3rd of the race. So no his conspiracy theory still stands .....

I can live with that. Now if Michelin can bring some tires that will go the distance.

They didn't. Nicki was on fire and it was a real shame. He actually deserved 2nd or a shot at 1st but his tyres died.

At the track they announced Casey and Rossi ran the same tyres (hard/medium combo with fries).

Same combo as last week.

On the coverage I watched there were two separate displays of tyre selection.

Stoner: Medium/Medium
Hayden: Medium/Medium

The above was displayed whilst there was still only around 1.5 seconds between Stoner and Hayden. Nearing the end of the race when Rossi was on teh charge they displayed the tyres of those two.

Hayden: Medium/Medium
Rossi: Medium/Hard

As some know, after the race Nicky said that he originally had the hard tyre but he himself made the choice to go back to medium on teh grid.

I'd agree with that otherwise Rossi would have been catching Stoner

Okay, no worries man.

Whatever Casey had it was un-.......-believable

ditto for Valentino.
