<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>In the post qualifying interview Casey said that the tyres (Bridgestoners) are not working in the cold conditions, however as it gets warmer the tyres are better. Hotter means him and Rossi (and who gives a .... what Dani does) can run harder compounds for the race.
Nicki was laying big black lines in qualifying, so was Stoner. Rossi has the race pace though - Rossi should have dumped his bike as soon as he was off track rather than getting into the trap that fast and getting spat, no one can steer off the grass, it is still wet from the morning rain and as slippery as a butcher’s tool.
Dani looked sort of lost and I wonder what Puig is thinking? They had a camera shot of him giving Dani the talk and I don’t think that Bridgestone thing is working that well for them. I mean, Casey won his first race and championship on the tyres, Rossi won back his championship on the tyres and Dani must be wondering now what will happen to him? He may have just manoeuvred this series into a single tyre rule (the arsehole) and he just has to wonder what dumping Michelin has done.
The forecast for tomorrow is warmer and little likelihood of rain so it will be a Bridgestone race.
Go Casey, Go Nick
Casey looks to have good race pace too, but I still have strong doubts he can maintain such a pace for race distance, although he has said in the lead-up to the race that PI may not be as hard on his wrist as recent previous tracks. I think he can only win if he gets a big lead early and can ease off in the second half of the race, but valentino will be charging then, and it is not as if he hasn't won from a long way back at PI before.
It may come down to whether the michelins last.
I am not going this year, but will make strong efforts to get there in 2009.
