Hmmm... while Phleg will get the chance to race, Powerslide's other tame racer is still sitting on the sidelines.

Hmm... went to Valencia and drove a Formula BMW car, but that is about as far as it went. Formula Palmer Audi looks good, but the seats are filled with Martin Brundle.

With FBMW Americas running at 300 thousand a year, finding people to fund you is hard. I talked with some European teams and have a few tests lined up with Double R Racing for the Euro Championship at Oulton Park, and with Jensen Motorsports at Sebring for the Americas championship. But that is as far as my budget for the season is getting me.

Racing for me was an attempt to be a career, but with things not looking good, I am thinking of taking a year off to reasse everything and go to school.

Racings only a bit of fun for me, and who knows, if I ever turn out to be even half decent I may give it a chance!

$300,000 A YEAR?!?!!?

Formula BMW Americas. About the same, 400-500 thousand a year for Formula Renault Eurocup. It is about 55 thousand pounds (150 thousand USD) for Formula Palmer Audi. About a million for a top F3 effort. Car racing is alot.

Might need to.

The amount sounds like alot, but if you do it right, you can get about 75% of it covered by sponsors. My father and I owned our own car last year (which is not a desired choice), while the rest raced for big teams. That led to a much higher cost for us last year. I think out of pocket, we spent like 150 thousand. We sold our cottage on an island (not what you think. Small, 2 bedroom flat that was 4 rooms with the bathroom, on Mackinac Island (small island that is a tourist hole) to fund the costs we were unable to get from sponsors.

But this year, only 14 guys are running the series and the teams want more, and Star Mazda is not an option as that is about 400 thousand dollars, and Formula Ford goes no where.

Tests are cheap, with the tire bill and plane tickets the main costs.

Oh, I stayed in a cheap motel. Valenica is a beautiful city, but there are some bad parts. And I ended up in that part. Not quite Detroit or LA, but I feared that being a stranger could leave me in some trouble.

Rog, when are the Olympic trials for martial arts based events?

If I was on the other half, I'd be racing, not sitting on my ... waiting for the phone to ring.
