FIM President Vito Ippolito addresses recent events in an open letter to the MotoGP[emoji769] community.

The recent events arising in connection with the competition for the 2015 FIM MotoGP[emoji769] world title have had a damaging effect on the staging of our competitions and poisoned the atmosphere around the sport. We are moving away from the tradition of pride in sportsmanship that is part of the heritage of motorcycling.

Everyone has the right to express his or her own ideas. But words and actions always have consequences. Every individual has to take responsibility for those consequences.

The riders, first of all, must be aware of this. Each one of them has thousands of fans who follow their exploits on the track and listen to what they say off the track. For that reason, we look to them, not just in this Championship but in all our disciplines, to set the best example of what our sport should and aspires to be.

This responsibility is also shared by the people who form their entourage, beginning with their teams and sponsors. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the matter, if some of those people unnecessarily fuel polemics about events or decisions in a wrongheaded way, they are doing a great disservice to the sport, to the detriment of our entire community and all the good things it offers to everyone.

Riders, teams, manufacturers and sponsors should not only respect the rules but they should accept the decisions of the officials, whatever they may be. Otherwise, they are contributing to anarchy and undermining the future development of our sport.

On behalf of the FIM and all those who are doing their best to bring about a happy conclusion to this Championship, I express the hope that at the next and final round in Valencia the riders will fight it out on the track and in a way that fully respects the spirit of fair play.

Vito Ippolito

FIM President

Hmmmm This sounds like a masked warning to Marc to do what he is paid to do & race to flag & not any body else.

Could also include Vale in that too though as if to say we know you are going to be charging through the field, dont do anything stupid.

You have been warned!!

I also think this is light weighted hit to all those yellow specced fanatics who signed this so called petition that you can put as many names on it as you want but it wont change a damn thing.

Its a warning to everyone. I think he believes and I can see it as well.. that this can get out of hand very quickly with people having specific motives during a particular race other than just placing as high as possible.

Although, I dont think you can ever fully eliminate rides from doing this I thing this is the warning shot.

Also, Can you imagine if MM and Dani delibtately allow... in any way, shape or form, Lorenzo to win the race and championship and the fans realize it.

That damage that would do to the sport would be incredible.

I think it's also directed to Vale's posse storming the repsol garage. Btw, what the .... does that Max guy do?

That's all I could figure. His entourage is starting to look like rap "singer" type .....

This will be the case even if Lorenzo has the genuine pace to win, Rossi fans will assume he's been allowed to.

........ mostly....

And Uccio does the rimming....simultaneously

You are correct.. Either way us VR fans will be pissed off regardless..... even if he wins the championship... :spin:

gonna be bloody exciting eh * rubbing my hands with glee:3a::bicycle:: im a Lorenzo fan but he needs to wind his neck in :nono:

Some rossi haters here! Isn't he allowed to have friends? If I was a top rider I'd give all my good mates a job if they wanted it! Why not?!

Not a good or smart business strategy unless those people are suited to the role or qualified.

Have seen many friendships fall because of high profile athletes who have 'employed' mates.

Well let Rossi be the judge of that! His money, his friends!!!

Like i said, this is not a Rossi worship forum like most you are used to. Some of us saw what Rossi was about decades ago and didnt drink the yellow cool aid. By far the most knowledgeable GP fans of any forum you will find is right here. They are fans of the sport, not fake gods.

This is aimed at Rossi and his mindless posse first and foremost. He started the .... show on Thursday off track, then lost his mind on Sunday on track. Also at Lorenzo for his regrettable actions during trophy presentation and in the interviews afterwards. Personally, besides Dani, i think Marc has taken the higher road in this cluster .... than just about anyone involved.

I'm a fan and a rider, I understand a lot. I'm not just a Rossi wannabe like 'you' see. No one liked what happened in Sepang, it was really bad! But people don't realise the magnitude of sabotage and provocation which led to this whole situation! In Rossi's 20 years when has he ever got to this point with a rider not competing for the title? Never! Because no rider has ever done this before, it's shocking and needs dealing with!!

Was buying it until Rossi's Dad was quoted... Basically, he wanted RD to tell MM to pull over. That is not racing..

Irregardless of personal motives RC missed an opportunity to get in front of this. Would strong words of warning on Saturday have changed anything on Sunday? Who knows, but it couldn't have hurt both riders to know big brother was watching.

This is the first time all the ingredients have been stirred together for this stew. It would have happened before had their been a rider with the balls and talent on another team to tell Rossi to .... off. Rossi has stepped on a lot of toes in his career, this time he stepped on some toes and it bit back. PS, Motegi 2010.
