As I have said on other threads the current mooted proposal doesn't have the breadth to allow that. One construction (I thought it was 2 but Kropotkin reckons one) and 2 compounds at each race will not allow favouritism like that.

On another note, I am not buying the arguement that Hayden had the "far superior" bike in this race. You race junkies can help me out here. When Rossi passed Dovi he was around mid straight in the slipstream then blew by Dovi. It was easy and textbook to someone that has a speed advantage. I won't buy that he had better tires as this came when tires still had plenty of life left in them. Hayden couldn't pull off this same manuever even though as some say that he had a far superior bike. He was definitely in the position a number of times this race to pull off the slipstream but that top speed advantage wasn't there. It could be his weight, although Hayden and Rossi are around the same weight. It could be his exit speeds, as Dovi picked up the bike earlier and got on the power quicker?? Maybe, due to Hayden's weight his bike was running a bit leaner than Pedrosa's

In the end I would like to believe that Hayden and Dovi were on about the same equipment, or at least got around the same performance from the equipment that they were on. This was why the racing was good and close. Dovi just had that little extra this weekend, next weekend it could be someone else. I think this will fill the seats and bring fans back to MOTOGP. The parade has gone on for long enough. We need racing like this.

I would also like to add that Rossi won this race because he was on a far superior package. This was easily seen when he slipstreamed Dovi and passed him down the straight. It would have been far closer if Rossi didn't have the speed and tire advantage.

Since the championship is a foregone conclusion. And Stoner has a lame arm. Looks like unless Pederasto manages to run away - the focus could be on Dovi and Hayden.

I just dug up the poll we had about him a couple of months back.
Great ride by Vale as usual. But that's the thing. It's 'as usual'....we just kind of expect it from him don't we? Now is that a good thing? I think not.

While watching the race and specifically Dovi's and Nicky's bikes, it seemed Dovi's rear tyre was wider and shorter than Nicky's.

It looked more 250ish....

Did anyone else think that?

Neither do I, he may be one of the best, maybe the best of all time, but that doesn't mean that people should expect him to win every time, I think that almost takes away peoples appreciation of just how hard he works for those wins.
It also means that when, for whatever reason, he isn't winning all the time (2006/2007) some people immediately declare that he is finished/past his best/needs to move on. It was great to see him win it again this year, to shut those people up.

Yeah I know ...... however ....... I kinda find the explanation that there are now more races a bit odd ..... I question, that running such achampionship with so many races as this year ...... does deserve more cred. than you allow for ....... 15 races would have been easier than an extra 3 or 2 oe even one ......... so basicallly I feel if Rossi gets the greatest score of all time, this year, it is well deserved ....... as was Stoner's as was Doohans etc. etc. etc. ...... how much value can you put on a more rigourous season?
